Forums - Gaming Discussion - I don't like the direction Sony is taking

Do you only play narrative games?

Yes 162 39.61%

No 247 60.39%

Total:409

I know. Fuck story, right?

Can't they just make games like Xbox? I don't want to think. Just shoot the things.

Isn't this site a primarily Nintendo site? Shouldn't be really surprised then.

It more likely to do with the fact theres no both, just  a yes or no and those who like to play  both are then more likely to vote no.

Yeah this. Just because I like Dragon Age, Mass Effect games and alike, doesn't mean I'm not playing Tekken and Overwatch right now.... could tekken be classed as a narrative game, I mean it has a story.

Anyway, Sony should stick to their ideals, make the narrative based story games. Leave the FPS/multiplayer games to the 3rd parties... everyone is happy.

Hmm, pie.

Story & narrative-focused is what I want.
That and RPGs.
So Im good with where things appear to be heading.

Im not really big on multiplayer focused games, and games as a service strategie sounds horrible to me.

I dont mind them trying to renew God of War like this.

Also it seems like 3rd party, and MS are all telling us "games as a service, multiplayer", I think its good sony is saying something differnt.

My thoughts exactly. I go where the RPGs are.

I don't believe Europeans necessarily like narative games better. Things that are usually popular here, are simulation, strategy and racing games; games notoriously lacking in story. I think it's more probable that Europeans (even though I personally liked GoWIII) just didn't like broad-shouldered, heartless, one-dimensional brutes.

Yeah i know. They should just make cheap f2p battle royale games with a production value of an early access title, just like MS. Fuck God of War and The Last of Us. They have no longevity and replayabity. MS is the best!

I can play a game like Civilization or Total War for 1000's of hours and I am from Europe also these games are very much targeting a mature audience also. I think the poll is a joke, nobody should "just" play story driven games anyone who enjoyes a VR indy game or a music, racing or building game would fall in the "no" category so I think the poll should have been "Do you prefer story-driven naritive games" and then the "yes" would have been over 50%

I dont get the vote, why NO is winning.
Sony thinking globaly with game design, so games appeal to more markets... is somehow bad?
Yep who wants them listening to consumers anyways right?

Maybe people don't "only play narrative games" and enjoy other types of games too?

What do you mean by Nintendo site?

Yeah like Microsoft!

The poll is kind of odd. I prefer narrative focused games most times, but they're not the ONLY type of game I play.

OT: I love the direction Sony has been going with narrative focus is almost entirely a good thing. As for God of War, I had no interest in it before bc kratos was so bland, one-sided, and unlikeable. I loved the incredible scale and epic nature and story, however. With the changes for the new GoW, its actually become one of my most anticipated games. I've heard many people, including Marty Sliva and others at IGN, say this is the first GoW theyve ever been interested in.

Even Nintendo has more multiplayer games now than Sony. Mario Kart, Arms, Splatoon 2 which is also a shooter. Microsoft also has their MP games and shooters. The only big Sony multiplayer game this year I can think of is GT Sport but Forza 7 will have more content so imo Sony is lacking in multiplayer first party games and shooters. I hate that they dropped Killzone for Horizon they should have continued the Killzone series because I liked the games.
