Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Forza Motorsport 7 stands at around 100 GB

Forza Motorsport 7 was always going to be a technical showcase for Xbox One X. It’s at the pinnacle of visuals and it’s also at the pinnacle of…occupying space on your Xbox One hard drive. According to the listing for the product on the Xbox Store, the game comes in at around 100 GB on Xbox One. This is going to increase as new content is added. The fact that it’s 100 GB is mostly due to the fact that it runs at 4K 60 FPS on Xbox One X and those assets are massive. I’m sure a lot of it is uncompressed audio too.

Barring any other games that come out between now and when Forza Motorsport 7 comes out, this is by far the biggest game on Xbox One. It might be the biggest game on any console actually. Considering that the last Forza title was around 50 GB, this is definitely a startling leap. At this point I would usually go into a diatribe about how huge games are annoying to install and I need to buy another hard drive, but Forza Motorsport 7 just looks so amazing at 4K 60 FPS that I’ll just upgrade my internet. Many Microsoft Stores should have versions of the game running on Xbox One X by the end of the week so be sure to call and check. I know there’s one in Cincinnati, Ohio which has the game running already. October 3 can’t get here sooner!

Holy mother of Don Matrick.

Is it shipped on two discs? Or do you have to download a 50gb update if you buy physical?

Because compressing is for pussies. But good to know they're actually using high quality assets.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Has to be 2 discs right?

I really shouldnt be required to download more than half of the game form online, just to play something.

i have 2 t2 no problem^^

So it should be no problem with a shortage of cars or tracks.

I imagine some of that is due to very high quality textures for X1X.

They need to stop making 500GB consoles, the games are too big.

It would be nice if people playing on a standard xbo/s can only download the files they need, instead of the higher-res textures and everything, especially as you say, a lot of these people will have 500gb hdd's.

For future reference Tmfwang, your threads have to include more than just a link or they will be locked (and you moderated if it happens frequently). Given this thread has already generated a decent amount of discussion I've edited the OT to include details from the article, but keep it in mind going forwards :)
