Makes little sense to not say that with Miyamoto already there, but maybe they are saving it for Nintendo's event.

It could have been done that far so that Nintendo could ride the hype with Kingdom Battle(lets face it, that game looks good) into their own presentation, so that people will tune in for that game, then BAM, announce that its exclusive( at least for some time) for Switch.

 

And at that, maybe an remastered BGE announcement for Switch too?

Though I agree that the game has a different feeling from the first one, setting and dialogue... hit a cord in me. I mean, I absolutely adore the first one, and I can't believe this is happening. And I trust Montpellier a lot.
