Forums - Gaming Discussion - What would make you buy a Scorpio at launch?

Would take a miracle or a death threat. A bump up in graphical fidelity for western multiplats means absolutely nothing to me.

Around the Network

Someone handing me a wad of cash and saying "this wad of cash can only be used to buy an xbox one scorpio"

At that... I would then look around to see where I could trade in said console to get as much of the wad back that I could. Really there just isn't a place under my TV for an xbox which doesn't have 360 after it's name :) Don Told me they had the system for me back at the X1 reveal and I still have found no reason to change from it.

Only one game ? Madness.

I can think of a few games that would qualify here. Of course none of them would ever be a Scorpio exclusive.

Technically no games will be Scorpio exclusive if I'm understanding the idea correctly? Games might run like utter shit on the original X1 unit, but they'll all "run".

Nice! Take a free shot at Xbox thread

And lol, graphics don't matter now. Shocked.

OT: Year 1 maybe.

i have no interest @ XboxOne 2.0/Scorpio. No chance.

And the PS4 has this/next year the biggest games from japan & the west. The new graphic-kings are "God of War", "The Last of Us 2" or "Death Stranding" in future, that is sure. For this reasons: The Scorpio has no meaning for me. Maybe a true next Xbox 2019 (new Generation, "Xbox Ultimate") :)

Thread's about Xbox, still amnages to advertise for PS, lmao.

lol I know it's a gaming forum and thus incredibly biased towards people with niche gaming habits, but let's face facts. Games matter, not exclusives. Every GTA or CoD is more important than any exclusive. That has been proven time and time again. GTA, CoD, BF and FIFA (among many others) are bigger system sellers than Horizon, Forza or Dawn of War III. Unless the exclusive is a mega franchise like Halo, Gran Turismo or Mario Kart.
When consumers can play those multi plat games with far improved graphics at a price that can challenge a decent PC rig, then consumers will buy it.

This. Multiplats matter more than exclusives, but don't let the forum dwellers know that.

Sure graphics do matter. That's why I have a gaming PC and Scorpio wouldn't be an upgrade in this department, so I buy all multiplats on the PC. Since that's out of the way, the only thing that's left are exclusives. Hence currently - Ninty > Sony > MS.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Cannot wait for the scorpio not selling at switch rate threads.

Already the pattern in those answers suggests that the general feeling towards the scorpio is, that the console is DOA. What is MS thinking? I mean they must have had given thoughts about the scorpio proposition in todays console market.
Obviously MS started designing and engineering the scorpio years ago, when it was hard to predict todays market, and they will stick to their plan by releasing it now. But why?
As there are no obvious incentives for gamers to buy it, even from XboxOne owners, what arre they doing?
Perhaps it is just a 'fill in the gap' mission to counter the PS4/Pro line, but where MS is not believing it will sell that much. It could therefore just be a pscyhological effect for consumers.

Thread should've ended here.

I agree, as mentioned earlier, that games matter to lift console sales. But yes especially exclusives.

I agree that multiplatform games sell more, obviously totally logic, because those games sell on multiple platforms, hence more potential consumers. But where does that leave consumers on what console to choose? You miss the point 'Barozi'. What games differentiates the Scorpio from the PS4 ecosystem, that is the real debate here. How will the Scorpio stand apart from the PS4/Pro, besides better hardware. If I really want to play TLoU2 I must have a PS4. The same cannot be applied for the scorpio, if we assume that MS' strategy about Xbox/PC holds true even for Scorpio.

And so we are left with exclusive games, that differentiate the consoles for consumers. And lets be honest, the mass market, does not care that much about hardware specs. It just has to run. The mass market is much more likely to adopt a console for their games. And even a more stronger buying decision is, in where do all my friends play, I wanna be in that ecosystem as well. The ecosystem is certainly bigger for the PS4, 60+ million consoles out there.

Context: when two near-identical systems with fairly weak exclusives come out at the same time, choice of console comes down to price & power. Years into the gen attention-grabbing exclusives and deals are the selling points. Had Scorpio & Pro launched at beginning of the gen with no stand out games and at similar price points, talk here would be different.
