It happened a few days ago but it seems no one has bothered making a thread with this side of the story. So I'll make it.

 As you all know, there are claims that Trump had passed on "secrets" to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting in Washington last week. Putin recently denied it, offered proof and had a few things to say about the current American political climate.

That recording of the meeting sounds quite tasty as there isn't any proof of what was talked about, yet everyone acts as if they knew exactly what was said. It can help the relationship with Israel if they are really angry at Trump, which is also unclear. Nothing is clear about this whole mess, actually. There are too many conflicting reports and no actual proof. So, who do you think is telling truth?

Actually we do have confirmation from the highest source. The fact that he told us he did something instead of just calling fake news is proof.

He just said he discussed some information. Not that said information contained "secrets".

I don't really trust Putin. And I don't think him coming to defend Trump does much good for Trump (nor do I think it makes US allies suddenly regain trust over info handling) given the political climate. Perhaps this past election cycle taught me not to trust the Russians as they clearly have motivation in pushing far right candidates.

It's very very likely that it happened based on their response.
If it didn't happen they would specify that no classified info was shared at this point.

No one is acting as if they knew exactly what was said though. Just that classified info likely was shared.
For the record, I don't think this has much or anything to do with his supposed ties to Russia. It's seems more like Trump being careless.

I don't know who Putin is aiming this comment at, but it's probably not at people who do a bit of thinking.

Yes, and the fact that he said exactly that instead of "the intel we discussed was not classified" means he did give out classified information. Trump is not a complex man and his reactions are easy to read. He basically said the only thing that means exactly that he shared classified information.
