I'm actually quite surprised with how ahead 2017 numbers are compared to last year. Last year everyone was thinking that 2016 would have been the peak. 

It is also surprising that the success of Nintendo Switch doesn't seem to have a real impact on PS4. It is either stealing most sales from X1 or it is appealing to a different market. Maybe the Wii crowd just skipped the Wii U and now they are upgrading.

You could be right, but with great sales numbers I really think Sony could postpone the price cut until the next Black Friday. I'm still convinced that the reason why 2016 barely edged out 2015 was because Sony simply didn't want to cut the price. Profit > sales all day.

The last price cuts were also motived by an aggressive pricing from MS. This year the X1 is half dead, so there is way less pressure on them. The 500 bucks price tag on X1X also doesn't help. Unless MS goes super-aggressive with X1S (unlikely), Sony doesn't have to cut the price.

The Switch is also more expensive than the PS4 and constantly out of stock. Anyway, I'm not sure these consoles sell to the same demography and if they do it's likely that there's a lot of double console owners. It looks a lot like last gen, I saw an unusual amount of people owning 2 consoles (normally they would get a Wii followed by a PS360 some years down the road after price cuts, always playing both units).

Honestly what you are makng doesn't make sense.... 

You are talking as if the only things that counts to a  consoles library are games that are coming in the same year that the console is purchased and that makes zero sense at all.

The whole point of being out for as long as it has been is that it will have a massive library. So anyone buying a PS4 now isn't just buying the console for less but is also going to have a great library of games to choose from and a few more to come in the future.

So if you say you can't think of any 5 games to buy the PS4 for but you can think of such for the NS? then just say you are a nintendo fan and call it a day.

I could defend myself about your "nintendo fanboy" accusation but since I've played to the best game ever, which is Super Mario Odyssey, I guess I can't anymore. You're right, now it's Ninty for the win.

But the new God Of War footage makes me wanna buy the console next year. The major issue is I don't have enough money to buy a PS4 Pro but I have a 55" 4K HDR display and I don't wanna play it on a regular PS4 (or a PS4 Slim). But I definitly wanna buy one.

He was actually saying he is a Sony fanboy, but for odd reason PS4 doesn't have 5 must buys but Switch have (even if need to count multiplats).

Another good point of buying PS4 right now is that you can buy all that backlog with severe discounts.

I have Pro and regular, the difference isn't that big.

If a Switch graphics satisfy you, there is zero reason for you to think only PS4Pro will do. Besides that the difference in price between regular and Pro is 100USD so it isn't massive.

Your whole argument is a contradiction though.... you have a 4k tv, and thus would only buy the PS4pro; yet your primary console is a NS that can hardly even manage 1080p. I just wouldn't have thought that anyone with a NS cares that much about graphics.

Anyways, with the normal PS4 you will still get 1080p+HDR and trust me when I say HDR is more noticeable than 4k.

And the TV will upscale the PS4 1080p to the 4k showing... for most games that is pretty already.

Holy fuck... now I noticed we are almost 2M over 2016, crazy.

And Sony have upped their forecast to 19M for the FY... also to remember this gen Sony haven't really sold considerably less than any forecast they made.
