Forums - Gaming Discussion - This is what Xbox games look like on 'Project Scorpio,' - windowscentral.com

haha wow, if anything shows the irrelevance of the jump to these mid-gen refreshes it is those pictures. Hey come buy a really expensive new console to replace the exact same console but just with slightly sharper graphics hahaha. Seriously. Sure it was a bit cleaner, but not a major difference, and is that gonna make games any better or more enjoyable to play?? NOPE.

Actually, this is a legit issue.  The downsampling looks nice, but Idoubt 4K has the power to grow hair.  Those were added on later apparently as a tech demo.  Undoubtebly, the Scorpio has the power to render the Laybug as shown, but it's not going to add what's not already there.  Deceptive Microsoft practices again?

I'm not convinced at all that a vanilla xb1 couldnt handle the 10 or so leg hairs on that ladybug. Which begs the question, will Ms deliberately lowball base xb1 games in favor of artificially making Scorpios improvement better? Pretty much the opposite strategy Sony has for mid gen

Since this is a tech demo, what you brought up is a fair point.  On the Xbox One, all the geometric features should have been in place so we could compare apples to apples (or ladybug to ladybug).

I imagine we can't really see the improvements without a proper screen.

I'm sure it'll be awesome for a lot of people, but I really feel we've been seeing increasingly diminishing returns over the last generation or two. Graphics are about as good right now as I have any need of them to be.

That said, I'm still getting the Scorpio... I have no 4k player yet despite the awesome 4k TV I got, and having never got an xbox1 it'll open up quite a few new titles to me going forward. It's basically the same thing as when I purchased the original PS3 for the new library and bluray capabilities.

Yes you can, because both pictures are 1920x1080p. You dont need a 4k screen to see the improvements in this tech demo.

One picture is downsampled from 4k, so showcase what scorpio can do for 1080p owners.

This demo is to show what you gain, as a 1080p tv owner.

If you look at the 2 scientist ladies, what you see now, is what you ll gain with a xbox scorpio.

It just doesn't look particularly impressive. I don't think the potential of "4k" is being met here.

The full potential of the Xbox Scorpio is being met (for 1080p tv owners).

Thats what this compairson shows (normal xbox vs xbox scorpio).

4k downsampled.

Ah yeaah that's what I meant originally. People with 4k TV's can expect more visually.

Scorpio - what a waste of money. Barely any difference.

The most interesting thing that I find about this is that this is the second screenshot we have seen where the Scorpio runs at xbox 1 graphical settings at 4k similar to how the ps4 pro runs games at ps4 settings during checkerboarding.

I will continue to be doubtful that it will be running most games at pc ultra settings at 4k. Instead what is most likely is that, it will run xbox one/ps4 or a bit more enhanced version of the ps4's graphical settings at 4k for most games.

Well, it may be nice for someone who's jumping into the ecosystem, but yeah for people that already own and XB1 I don't think it's noticeable enough to be all that important.
