Forums - Politics Discussion - Overwatch Pro ends his Career with Racist Rant

Man, that dude needs to have a Coke and a smile.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

It's not fair calling him a racist, he's just a moron.

He's just making Canada great again, he just chose not to be pc you snowflake liberals

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

What a complete idiot. Sadly there are heaps more that act just like him on games. Glad his contract waa terminated. Dont need that garbage on Esports.

Esports isn't a thing. It's made up. A sport is defined as an "activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment."

Unless you consider pushing buttons in a chair physical exertion... playing video games can't be a sport. It's more a competition than a sport. Esports is just a stupid name some insecure gamer made up to feel better about his or herself.

Depending on what game they are playing I'd actualy say it is. Especially fighting games require lighting quick reflexes, a lot of training and often lead to injured ligaments and infections in the wrist.

It's definitely not the same amount of exertion, as for example running track or playing basketball, but it's similar to the physical exertion required to play darts, do curling, or compete in gun shooting, all of wich are considered 'legit' sports.

Heck, we consider poker and chess 'mind sports' with chess having a legit change of becoming an olympic dicipline in 2020.

It wasn't a racist rant, but I see the issue.

It was basically just a tantrum of a 4 year old. Which I think is reason enough to exclude that person from the team. But not from Twitch because most streamers are 4 year old rage bundles anyway.

RIP Olympics!

The new sports for the 2020 Olympics has already been announced and while Chess is recognised by the Olympics committee as a sport (has been for years), it was never in consideration for them. The new sports are Wrestling, baseball/softball, skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing. (still no squash but I guess they don't want Eqypt and GB to win all the medals).

...besides, Akira will destroy the stadium before it happens anyway.

On subject I do think eSports has a long way to go to be openly accepted. Sports don't change, not really. Baseball now and baseball 50 years ago is basically the same, few rules changes here and there to adapt to modern technology or techniques. Chess hasn't change for centries. League of Legends has an update every 2 weeks and in 3 years time the pro Overwatch scene could be gone, replaced by the next 'fad' game. It's hard to establish routed games/sports when the games change so much. Also, some of the player base and fans need to grow up.

Hmm, pie.

Ah, sorry for having outdated info, then. I remember reading an article a while back that said chess was under serious consideration for 2020, but haven't followed it that closely.

That depends on the sport too, though. While esports change much faster, they are also much younger. The reason you think sports don't really change that much is because none of us have been around when the Olympic disciplines of today where in their infancy and still changing a lot.

For a few examples of sports that had drastic rule changes within the last 40 years look no further than, basketball, figure skating, gymnastics, Ski jumping etc. And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. These aren't small rule changes either, but fundamental stuff like the 3-point line and entire new scoring systems wich entirely transform the sports. Heck they stopped actually scating figures in figure skating. So yeah, sports are changing, sometimes drastically.

Are you sure he wasn't just playing a gangster rap song in the background? Pretty much the same lyrics. :-p

He didn't just say "nigger", he starts saying "big black nigger", so I'm pretty sure that's he's referring to race.
