I'm sorry but your system is just really bad, maybe the worst I have seen. Also you completely fail to understand thaty story has never been essential in voideogames, yet you reserve a 30% of the score for that independently of the genre which is a complete mess.

Wow, haven't had someone try to argue with me in a while (maybe 2 plus years?). I'm not gonna argue. This isn't a review for everyone, but for those of us that WANT a good story in EVERY game, which I understand is the minority. If you don't like my system, then don't comment.

Is also pretty nonsense to assign a percentage for every aspect of a game, there is no arithmetic way to judge art, in fact when you try it you end up with a mess like this and it would happen with any other kind of art too.

Ease up on the guy, he said his reviews are unconventional just leave it at that.  If you find his system not to your liking avoid his reviews from here on out or know what you are getting into next time you do read one of his reviews.  He is trying to share and do others a service, no need to rip the guy for that.  Just my two cents, sorry I know you didn't ask for them.

EDIT: crap this reply was for goodnightmoon

Not ripping the guy at all, just giving my honest opinion about the system in case he wants to redo it someday, I'm sure he understand is just a one man opinion and he is entitled to use the system he wants.

As I have said before (though not in a while, I guess since people have gotten used to my review style) I review things differently than most reviewers. I don't agree with adjusting to match a certain style of game. People always tell me not to destroy Tropical Freeze or NSMBU because of their lack of story, then I play games like Trine and Trine 2 with really fun story telling. Every game CAN have a good story, if only the developers aren't lazy, Snakepass is no exception.

The problem is, a platformer with 25/30 on story and 0/5 on controls is completely unplayable, but will still be seen as equal to a game with 20/30 story and 5/5 controls.

You can't review a music album in the same way you review a movie. Sure, there are tracks with good videos associated, but it would be ridiculous to start off at 20% or something because they don't have any clips associated.

I don't see why one should differentiate any less between viedo games that are purely gameplay-driven and the full story/graphics experience. Video games are somewhere in between toys and movies, and depending on where they lean, they need to berated more like the former or the latter, becuase they just aren't comparable products.

You have your right to give a subjective review, they all are; but in that case, I give myself the right to review your review system.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

Fair enough, it just sounded harsh in my head.

Alright I get that. The only thing I will say is that I think we as gamers need to be more careful with our use of "lazy" when we talk about game development. Simply because every game has a finite amount of resources available so to improve one aspect of a game you need to take away from something else. Plus, game development is just really difficult, and we should try to be respectful of that and of the people who do it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I thought BotW got 100+ why is it listed as 27? :p

But good review, though I'm going to pass on this game

Oh but I can. To me, the single most enjoyable thing about a game is a good story (can be funny, or serious, or something else, long as it is good). It could have amazing controls and feel completely pointless without a story (like NSMBU and Tropical Freeze). It is pure laziness and nothing else.

The review system is based on what I personally want in games, not anyone else specifically. There have been plenty of people in the past that have agreed with my reviews and plenty more that don't get my style, it is fine.

I'm sorry, but a 5 year old could create better dialogue and story development then that in Snakepass, NSMBU, or Kong: Tropical Freeze. It is clearly a case of them not wanting to put a story in the game.

It did, I haven't the slightest clue how that got mixed up. The 27 game was New Yoshie's Island. BOTW did get 104. Thanks for letting me know that got pasted wrong, somehow!
