It FINALLY HAPPENED

For most of the Wii U's life cycle we talked about how it was DOA or "dead in the water" or "on it's way out". With the Switch launch behind us, new games on the way and the NS's first E3 just around the corner - the Wii U is now a "retro" console. 

I've compiled my top 12 favorite games as a send off. Friends who got a preview of the video voiced displeasure at a few of my picks (and that their fave wasn't included. What were some of your Wii U favorites?

Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, DK Tropical Freeze, and Mario Maker are probably my biggest faves.

Edit: Oh, and Pikmin 3.

Meh, for me the threshold for being "retro" is a bit further back; PS2/Gamecube/Xbox are the newest systems that I consider to be currently retro.

The games I enjoyed most on Wii U were Breath of the Wild, (naturally) Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Fatal Frame, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Tropical Freeze, Splatoon, and Captain Toad.

Doesn't a retro system at least have to be 10 years old or something? I mean the Wii U is only barely 4 years old. No one considered Wii retro in 2010.

Anyway I only have like 6 games on the system so the top 12 games is kinda impossible for me but here it goes.

5. Everything Else (Ok I will post the others)
5. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
6. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Edition

lol, I love how the word retro is loosely used here, the Wii U is not retro, it is a last gen system.

i think ten years from now people will look back and see Splatoon as the one good thing to come out the of the Wii U.

Or they'll look back on it with the same hipster-ism with which people currently view the Gamecube. ;)

I'm still reluctant to call the Wii/PS3/360 retro. Certainly wouldn't consider the Wii U to be retro.
