There is no place for Hookshot with design of this Zelda.
What would be point of Hookshot if you can already climb on every surface in game and when you can paragliding.

Any surface? Is there any wall made glass inside some dungeon or other place that could impossibility the climbing? Serious question, never played the game.

To the OP: Great thread. Didn't actually read, because I don't want to get spoiled even to a small harmless detail, but I realized that your points are all about the gameplay possibilities and not futile aspects. For a moment I thought I would enter in this thread and read something like:

1- bring it to PS4

2- make it run at 4k and 60 fps

Any surface in world, you cant climb on surface in shrines and dungeons, but Shrines and dungeon are small so there was no point to be used Hookshot even there.

Nah. Every game can be improved. I personally like a little criticism instead of "This was so amazing! Let's all jerk each other off!" threads. Way more constructive.

That's a shame. Hookshot gives a lot more to previous Zelda than just reach higher areas.

Agree with point 1, 4 and 7.
Going underwater is the only way to really expand this world if Nintendo intends to make open world zeldas going forward. Personally, i don't want a bigger map than this, but diving would be an awesome layer. And rebuilding hyrule would make a great amount of content to add depth in the next one.

As someone who still hasn't played the game (Will do very soon!) but heard complaints about raining when climbing, the hookshot could definitely be useful. It could allow you to climb during rainfall and also let you climb faster in general.

@ OP, some things I want for the next Zelda game (No point in trying to "fix" BotW imo, it is what it is):

- The epic title screens. They made BotW's menu pretty boring for some reason.

- Begin able to find rupees/hearts in grass again. Obviously would need to be limited so it doesn't make cooking pointless, maybe only specific grass spots would give those. Maybe taller/darker grass could work.

- Traditional dungeons and items (Maybe hide the items in the overworld instead of the dungeons that use it, to encourage exploration).

- I'm 50/50 on weapon durability. If they can improve it, by all means keep it. Otherwise, do something different.

- Loftwings. Such a missed oportunity to have a huge open-world and not be able to fly in it.

- Finally, audio options. If you want to keep voice acting, fine, but please let me at least turn it off or change the language, I don't want my Zelda characters speaking english all of a sudden.

No its not shame, I loved Hookshot in previous Zelda games, but in this game simple there is no fit for Hookshot with design of game.

Point of rain is that weather affect how you play game, so having Hookshot would again go against design decisions of game.

I think it's pointless to give examples how to "fix" game that you still don't play.

Not really. Just because I haven't played it yet doesn't mean that I can't already see stuff that I don't like about it. I'll have fun with it once I get around to it next week, but I want the next Zelda game to be more... Zelda.

Edit: You're right about the hookshot though, it could probably "break" the game. Still want them to try putting it back if they can make it work.

+ Add a Xenoblade or Horizon-like dramatic main story to the game which should be spread through the whole map
+ Add a musical score that rivals former Zelda games instead of the almost constant silence
+ Add heart pieces and flasks
+ Make side quests and mini dungeons rewarding and worth doing. They are a complete waste of time in the current game and the reward is not worth the effort in most cases.
+ Add an option to get Amiibo-exclusive items without the Amiibo
+ Remove the greyish extreme smog-like fog shader effect that makes the graphics look so bad and ugly most of the time
+ Add an easy mode for beginners with better durability and weapon damage modifications
+ Reintroduce small hearts dropped by enemies and hidden in the world
+ Include multiple solutions to solve puzzles and obtain items like done with the warm doublet. After the great plateau, there usually is only exactly one linear way to do or obtain everything.

Breath of the Wild could be the best Zelda game ever made, the potential is absolutely there. But in it's current form it is not even part of the Top 5, the flaws are too big to overlook.

I can't disagree with that since I haven't played the game yet.

But you agree that the hookshot implementation could bring more new possibilities maybe at least in some new puzzle?
