It's certainly out and available here in germany, I could find a laptop with it for 849 €. Don't know about the US and other countries. =/

I only used a laptop for pc gaming (well, I don't have much time to play anymore but when I do it's on a laptop. 960m is a waste of budget, not significant boost in performance over the 950m and not much cheaper than the 970m (My current GPU). SSD size barely matters. I will never be enough for everything you want on it so just grab a cheap external hard drive, and put your current game and os only on the SSD. As always stay away from I7 cpus, they are only good to show off your e-penis as multi core performance does not matter in gaming. Try finding one with DDR4 ram. Even if it's only 4-8 GBS. You cna upgrade it for cheap whenever. Matte screen is abjectively better now that the color range is acceptable on both matte and glossy panels. |
The computer listed seems to meet the criteria, besides the expensive GPU. But I think I need a 4GB GPU over a 2GB.
I might suggest for my friend, because he needs one right away for paperwork.
Btw @all we need laptops because we will need a computer to carry on for airplane travel. Desktop just isn't feasible.

I wanted to copy the thread title, but it was already done for PC discussion :(.
His just doesn't turn on, mine takes off like an airplane and burns up for any decent game.

Looks good to me, but my friend is looking for something cheaper. What is your opinion on the laptops I listed earlier like?

Man I would kill to pay $1.2k AUD for that (slightly more than $900 USD), that would probs cost like $2k here though -_-

The GPU is the issue... What games does he usually play and want to play?

I think he wants to be future proofed at least a little for games like EU V or CK 3. He doesn't play anything too intense like LoL, FFXIV, Overwatch, CK2, EUIV. He told me 960m should be good, but I was thinking 950m would be good enough. However if it doesn't future proof, I guess he might want something better.

Well trust me when I say, he's not gonna be playing much with those. I am not sure what games those are however but what I suggest is getting this then.
i5-7300HQ
8gb of ram
Nvidia 1050Ti
256Gb SSD
1080p
$800
You can't "future proof" with $800 laptop but it is a lot better than a 950M or a 960M
Just look at the comparison:
http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti-Mobile-vs-Nvidia-GTX-950M/m223242vsm27713
1050Ti is 108% better overall than a 950M
http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti-Mobile-vs-Nvidia-GTX-960M/m223242vsm27242
1050Ti is 72% better overall than a 960M
Getting either a 950M or a 960M or anything lower than a 1050Ti will be a big mistake imo
