You can't "future proof" with $800 laptop but it is a lot better than a 950M or a 960M

Betting either a 950M or a 960M or anything lower than those will be a big mistake imo

Ah EU is for Europa Universalis and CK is for Crusader Kings. He definitely probably play the future versions of those games. However I don't think the games are too intensive. I will see what his spending limit is, as both computers u listed is something i might buy soon.

All I know is don't get a fancy slim form laptop as it gets very hot while gaming and fps will drop significantly. My laptop could almost burn my fingers at the exhaust exit while playing Elite Dangerous.

1050 or 1050ti is a must, the jump from 28 to 14nm was a milestone in energy efficiency.
