Forums - Sony Discussion - Opinion: With PSNow, the PS4 seems like a waste of money

PS4:

-$299 including one game and one controller

-Anywhere between $30-60 at a store per game (Cheaper used)

-Annual online fee of $60 (With included games)

PSNow:

-$100 a year

-$60 for an upfront controller

-Over 350 games, with almost 100 being AAA titles

-PS4 games coming soon

-Available on even the crappiest PC's

There are more points to each, but overall it seems like PSNow is the better deal, unless you cannot wait for the brand new games. It would take 3 years of PSNow to equal the cost of PS4, with that PS4 owners could only play one game.

Well... A few things

Firstly of course, the input lag won't be anywhere as good as playing the game on the system
Secondly, we don't know which ps4 games are coming to psnow or how long before a certain game will come
Thirdly, can you even play games online?

The Value is good on paper but until they announce which games are coming which will ultimately unveil their strategy, I wouldn't jump the gun just yet even if you are willing to only play single player games with the input lag.

Yes you can play games online. I was playing the old PS3 game Warhawk not too long ago. With that said I experienced very little input lag with Warhawk (10 mbps internet).

I dunno.

Streaming could cause some technical problems. Plus you don't get to keep the games when you unsubscribe. And you've no control over what games enter/exit the rotation.

What really bugs me, where did they (sony) ever say they were bringing PS4 EXCLUSIVE games to PS Now? Could just be indies and multiplats for all we know

Any time you're streaming games, it will automatically be inferior to having the game locally.

PS4 is def. not a waste imo.
350 games out of like 1600 of them the PS4 has.

You get to own the system, the games, dont have to deal with input lag, compression, ect.
More choice in games.

if you dont get PSplus, within 2years the differnce in price will have earnt itself back for the PS4.
Even if you do, its like 6years down the line, the PS4 will have earnt itself back.
2023 there might still be people playing on PS4's, so its not unreasonable to assume so.

"Opinion: With PSNow, the PS4 seems like a waste of money"
Its a opinion, but not one I agree with.

PS Now doesn't work for Fighting games because of input lag. I like Physical games. I don't care much for digital. PS Now reminds me of a failed service called Onlive and Gametap. Nah no thanks.

nope,
there are issues with streaming games.
you don't get to keep your games.
we don't know what PS4 games are being brought to the service.
