Forums - Gaming Discussion - So... what exactly is wrong with ME: Andromeda?

I've been able to easily look over the animation glitches and mediocre facial animations because overall, the game is incredibly awesome. The exploration, scanning, collecting, crafting, combat, it's all top notch. Also, despite playing all 3 previous games I never really dug into the co-op MP, but it's a blast in this game and I love the way it's integrated into the single player. Very well done. I'm nearing my 10 hours and will be counting the minutes until Tuesday.

People playing it have enjoyed the game so far. Wonder what everyone else will think once it comes out.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I have absolutely adored the Ass Effect franchise. In-fact, I don't think I can recall a Bioware game I haven't enjoyed. (Yes I enjoyed my run though Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3) So I was looking forwards to Andromeda... But the recent comments on it have me "erring" on the side of caution. Hah.

Was "Ass Effect" a typo? I'm stealing that if I ever become a porn producer.

I wanna know what's up with those weird walking animations and awkward cutscenes that have been popping up lately. Are those moments really in the game, or is it.. some other un-explainable thing?

From what I can tell, it's a combination of Frostbite's overall weakness with character models and the uncanny valley. The faces are much more detailed than they were in the trilogy, and that may be breaking our brains a little too much. The closer you get to a perfect human face without face mapping (which a lot of games these days rely on for more realistic expressions), the worse it's going to look because our brains just reject the subtle imperfections entirely.

Because of the game's scale, there's absolutely no way they could have done face capturing for all of the characters, so we're left with stiff, wooden, pre-animated expressions that look much worse now than they did before because of better technology, ironically. Doesn't help that they may just not have the best animators over at Bioware Montreal. Who knows.

The hate is mostly because it's EA. If this was an exclusive people would be losing their shit. Everything i seen of the game so far looks great. Admittedly k haven't seen all that much so i don't spoil my self. But what i have seen so far looks very impressive

I wonder how many visual oddities will ba patched out day one, and in the long run. Released footage thus far does not inspire me with any interest.

If you have any familiarity with Bioware games...its easy to appreciate Andromeda as their best looking and performing game yet.

I enjoyed the EA Access slice, will be purchasing.

I was turned off by almost everything I read about DA2, so it's the one Bioware game I have never bought. DA Origins was great. Still need to go back to play ME 1 and 3. I loved ME2. KOTOR 1 and 2 are all time favs.

Dragon Age 2 certainly had it's flaws, some big glaring ones in-fact.
But I still enjoyed it for what it was.

It's interesting that a "shit" Bioware game I still find enjoyable.

I'll raise you a Baldurs Gate or Neverwinter Nights to your KOTOR. ;)
