Does it make a difference?

No magic sauce in there.

Didn't a leak state that only 3 cores were available to developers; Perhaps we could see a 33% increase of CPU power in games later on.

Okay...

What games can the Switch play? That's what's more important.

Well, it launched with one of the highest rated games of all time.  It can play those kind of games.

Great to hear! Hoping a number of other franchises find their way there too! Shantae, Freedom Planet, Azure Striker, Resident Evil 4, and of course any of Nintendo's upcoming software.

better than the wii u still under xbox and ps4, nothing new

seems like this was the cheapest option

the Tegra X1 has wasted silicone space, because the 4 A53 cores can't be used while the 4 A57 cores are active, but atleast they saved on a redesign for these chips

I imagine when they shrink it to 16nm or lower process they'll get rid of these low powered cores entirely

it is custom, since we know they cut the performances of the X1

That's just clock speed

If you reduce the clock speed, you reduce performances. That's how it works.

R&D cost where nothing then for nintendo.

Also Nvidia had a huge warehouse stock full of these chips they couldnt sell.

Its like Semiaccurate said, Nvidia basically gave them away for next to nothing to nintendo.

Theres no reason why the Switch is 299$ imo.

I bet nintendo could lower prices to 199$ and still make profit on them.... its just a matter of greed.

This is good news though, it means its likely we ll see a price cut early.

The Secret is there is no secret?
I think I could have worked at Nvidia during all those man hours they put in the chip :D

nothing changed, the most powerful handheld and the least powerful home console.
Up to Nintendo to market it as a proper handheld

I am pretty sure, with some modifications to the kernel, they could use the 4 LITTLE cores.

Thats another bonus.... the next shrink they do of these chips,.... you ll see drastically better battery life.
