Forums - Nintendo - Overwatch on Switch ? " is very challenging for us " says Overwatch Director

I believe the switch is powerful enough to run Overwatch but it will be worth for blizzard to make a port ? ... hope never dies!

Don't they have to bring Heartstone to the Switch first? What happened to that?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Come join The 2018 Obscure Game Monthly Review Thread.

Fun fact: Jeff Kaplan loves BOTW

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

I want as many people as possible to play OW, such a great game that takes most of my gaming time as is. Hopefully Jeff can get it going there.

Overwatch is kinda demanding on pc, don't see how that would happen unless they really tried to make a good port

Overwatch isn't demanding. You can play with pretty decent performance on garbage computers.

I'm sure Switch will be different, so we will wait and see.

Are you sure? PC min specs look rather humble. Other PC versions of Switch ports are in the same class of raw power.

  • Operating system: Windows Vista/7/ 8/10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • Processor: Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 865.
  • Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460, ATI Radeon HD 4850, or Intel HD Graphics 4400.
  • Memory: 768 MB VRAM, 4 GB System RAM.
  • Storage: 7200 RPM with 5 GB available HD space

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I would be a bit surprised mostly as it's an online-focused game more so than it being demanding of the hardware and they'd have to make it work within whatever service Nintendo winds up providing.

That would be fun though, the Switch definitely has the potential to offer things we've not gotten to experience in a portable format before if it works out that way... I'm not holding my breath, but it would be cool.

It is? I don't find it to be very demanding... really seems like just reducing the resolution a bit or something is all that'd be needed at most. The main issue I imagine they have is, first, whether or not there'd be enough demand to warrant a port (very possible they'd not even make their money back), and also the uncertain online services the Switch will be offering for what is an online game.
