Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS4 Firmware 4.50 And PSVR 2.40 Releases Tomorrow (OFFICIAL)

Just a heads up. Er ... what can I add here that will satisfy those who seem to require blurb of some kind? I don't know really ... perhaps: PS4 firmware 4.50 and PSVR 2.40 releases tomorrow. That's just a repeat of the thread title though ... Darn it, how about a pic instead.

"PS4 firmware update 4.50 offers numerous enhancements for PS4 players, including 3D Blu-Ray support for PSVR, the ability to upgrade your console with an external hard-drive, and tweaks to the UI. PS4 Pro players can also benefit from the new Boost Mode to improve framerates and resolutions of specific games."

I just noticed it said specific games. Forgot about that.

Still probably worth it for Nier Automata.

I remember using the graphics enhancers for PSOne games when running on the PS3.  Tron Bonne for instance had artifacts with enhancements on.  It's all going to depend on the game so we'll see.

Just picked up a PRO this last weekend so... Been waiting for this update (: Beast mode!

I feel that my Pro purchase over the vanilla is becoming more and more justified not having a 4K TV.  I just need to start playing more games.

You can use boost-mode with any non-pro game, it's just you won't notice improved framerate if it never drops below 30/60 or whatever it's framerate cap is. You also won't notice improved resolutions in games that don't use dynamic resolution.

You'll get marinally improved load times in pretty much every game with boost-mode on though.

Any idea how that works? More processing power shouldn't really help with loading times unless there's decompression to be done, I would imagine.
