Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch Can't Connect to Internet Authentication-Required WiFi (Update: Day 1 update adds feature)

Personally I dont care about that, but yeah its definelly a negative, that could be easily avoided.Hopefully Nintendo fixes this soon when they incorporate a web browser.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Sigh, your at home Wifi is perfectly fine, this is about the free wifis usually found in the outdoor world.

My "at home wifi" (at my last apartment) required me to log into a website and click ok.

Thus this would be impossible me if I was there. I don't know what percentage of apartments are like that, but the number isn't 0.

That is so strange, I never heard of personal wifi having internet authentication. Hopefully Nintendo resolves it for individuals like you. However I hope you aren't getting ripped off if you do have internet authentication.

Thats REALLY weird! Why you needed to do that?

This is a clear problem, luckily it has a really easy solution.

They said there will be no browser at launch, which makes me believe it will be a browser at some point, let's hope is sooner than later.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Could you do this on the 3DS? I'm trying to to think of a time when I'd want to do this.

If I'm traveling and will be in airports and hotels, I get my downloading done ahead of time.

Those wifi spots are good in a pinch to check Twitter and news or to look up something, but they tend to lose connection very easily and ask you to re-authenticate pretty often.

It would never occur to me to try multiplayer or something over these networks.

Not the DS, I did do it on my Vita, never tried 3DS.

Out of curiousity, what kind of things do you do on you Vita when connected to public, authentication required wifi? How was the experience?

Nothing really, it was just a test to see if it worked, but this news doesn't effect someone like me. If I need internet that badly I have my phone.

yes you could do it on 3ds. your 3ds might show it couldnt connect to internet when you set the connection setting, but you could just open the 3ds browser and login from there.

Things like pokemon trading, or inviting other players on animal crossing dont need high speed internet connection. Also some ppl live in college or a building that requires internet authentication (some apartments).
