Forums - Sony Discussion - Uncharted 1 & Horizon Zero Dawn - Both 88 MC - New Naughty "Gods"?

Have HZD's amazing reviews surprised you?

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised 14 21.88%

No, I had a lot of faith in this 33 51.56%

Damn you Sony, my wallet is dying! 17 26.56%

Seeing as the first entry of one of Playstations most successful franchises got the same MC score as the first entry in the "Horizon" series, could this very well be a new franchise for Sony with "Uncharted" level of success? And could Guerilla Games ultimately gain the level of trust and worshipness from gamers and reviewers alike as the Naughy "Gods" now have?

Have Sony just got 2 goldmaking developers / franchises at their hands? I hope so.

Well, I'm not sure if Horizon Zero Dawn will get three sequels. I know basically nothing about the game. For those who have checked, does the story seem as though it'll continue?

Even if it ends up being a standalone game, I think it will be recognized by many Sony fans as a great must-have for the PS4

I read that GG said that a potential sequel may not have Aloy as the main protagonist, so there is probably alot of other stories to be told in the universe theyve created...

and KindaFunny (who have played it) said that a sequel "must have been greenlit already" :)

Naughty Dog is praised so highly because they consistently release high-quality games.Guerrilla dosent have that track record. Not yet at least. If their next games keeps the quality this high, then maybe they can be considered as such you suggest.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I think its amazing that the PS4 was able to come out with at least 8 Killer titles so far this year and 7 of them are exclusives. That are all experimental in their own rights and They couldn't be further away from each other.

Resident Evil, Yakuza 0, Tales of Beseria, Horizon, Nioh, Gravity Rush 2, KH 2.8, Nier: Automata

God Damn.

Brilliant move Sony, Brilliant move.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

My take on this.
Horizon is to killzone as Uncharted is to Jak and Daxter. GG is on another level with this game, and as good as killzone was, it would be a disservice to make another Killzone. HZD is something special that GG has in their hands at the moment.

So is GG following Naughty Dog's footsteps?
I think so, but I would like to wait for a sequel before answering the question.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Guess I'll be looking forward to Horizon High Noon and Horizon Final Sunset.

If thats the case then i cant wait for Horizon 2 because it will be the best game of all time.

tougher grading now than then. Uncharted 1 would get a 70 or so now I think.

I am Iron Man

You don't create a world that rich (apparently as I've not played the game yet) without intending to make a series of games in the same setting. The main question will be to continue with Aloy being the lead (a la Drake in Uncharted and shepard in Mass effect 1-3) or to explore the stories of different people (similar to Dragon Age (and Elder Scrolls?) with a different protagonist in every game, albeit connected to one epic story arc)

It's a great big world, so at some point they are going to have to move on from Aloy's own view and experience. But I suppose one can also look at LoZ and the fact that Link's world is huge and the games are still showing everyone that world through his personal lens.
