The only thing that bums me out in horizon is the water effects. There is literally no interaction between the water and anything around it(when you or an object moves around it). Not even a simple texture effect. It looks like everything is just clipping through a translucent object. I guess it was a necessary sacrifice.

Yeah I gather from the DF tech analysis that water and interactions with the vegetation were probably nessecary sacrifices to maintain the framerate. This is real coding to the metal optimization, to the point where they're balancing all the systems to acheive the most impact on screen with a solid framerate. Coupled with some of the unique advanced rendering systems in place (that are likely to be implemented by other developers in the future) as it stands the decima engine has to be one of the best.

There's so many elements that I personally find impressive, but it's the fact that the detail is so high, and then on top of that it just has incredible draw distances. I can't get over that.

One thing FFXV does way better than HZD is the lighting effects of the time of day. FFXV is more natural and realistic. Everything else though, from art direction and environment design, HZD is above and beyond FFXV.

I'm pretty jealous of all of you already playing it. My copy arrives tomorrow, but i'm waiting for my new 4k screen to arrive (*lays flowers at the grave of old screen's HDMI port*). The DECIMA engine really is something else.

Game sucks, they had to rate it T for teen, so my spoiled 7 year old has been playing it for 2 hours instead of me...
Anyway restrictive tutorial over and done with, game seems to open up now.

Dinner now, Horizon dawn of zero will still have to wait a bit. Luckily I'll get the Switch with Zelda Wildbreath at the midnight launch so I'll get to try that first!

huh?  really?

If it was rated M I would have kicked him off :) The game looks lovely though, yet watching a 7 year old control the camera can be a bit nauseating.

I need more time with photo mode, frustrating I can't simply get up and move in close for a good look as in VR! Studying the facial expressions in cut scenes in RE7 was fun, in HZD I can't get closer damn it.

The game is lovely. I had to get through the tutorial again for my own save, I'll be out in the open soon. I was messing around with dad, jeez he's no fun, so serious. This way Alloy, listen to me Alloy, Alloy follow, try again Alloy, reload out of quest area... That dude needs a dog instead of a daughter.

Btw it feels weird to play without a headset on, all naked eww.

The tutorial portion is not that long though. After you're free to go as you please!

Played a little bit, saw the start then played the cave part.

It looks great , the models look great, it is the most beautiful open world game ever by far. Still a level behind Uncharted 4 but still amazing and probably the top game in terms of graphics this year.
Cant wait to play in the open world and hunt some damn robot dinoos xD

Given that this is an open world game,a level behind UC4?Nope,no,no.UC4 may got the foliage and water on this game but that's it,imo of course.
