Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How are 2 Joycons being $79.99 overpriced when 2 PS Move controllers are $99.99!?

2P Arms motion controls. 4P Mario Kart.

If Mario Kart 9 has 2P/kart like double dash (8P total) then I'll be buying another 6(3pairs).

In theory yes, but will you actually buy these? I guess ARMS is the best real life scenario, but then again how many people buy ARMS?

I don't know why people prefer the pro controller over a split controller. Split feels better, imo with the option to be used as 2 pads.

Pretty sure $60 is the MSRP for the DualShock 4

That's what I thought. Considering I have like three of them (and six Xbox One controllers-- which cost the same as a Dual Shock even without the motion controls and light bar. And that was before they added the headphone jack.). So why is NATO spreading the false narrative that two Switch controllers cost $20 more?

Makes me wonder if he has an agenda.

My bad, been a long week, they're 49.99 here but GBP not usd

Still though, even at $60 it's still cheaper.

You sure?

The system comes with a pair but its 100% optional to get any additional Joy-Cons. The only reason you would need them is for local-multiplayer.

Also worth noting that for alot of multiplayer games on Switch, a pair of Joy-Cons will actually act as two controllers so in order to play a 4 player games you need to spend an additional $80 which is like $100 cheaper than paying for 3 additional PS4/XBO controllers to play 4 player local multiplayer.

I see, but I was referring to the ones that came bundled with the game

Controllers cost money so that is also incoperated into the $300 USD bundle

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Just recently, I was forced to buy a $40 USB dongle for my PS4 in order to use a pair of non-Sony branded Bluetooth headphones I received for Christmas. Admittedly this wasn't something I researched (though they were a gift anyway, so it wouldn't have mattered), but I was surprised at never having heard any complaints on this before now. To me, it was a major inconvenience, and having to spend extra money on it definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.

Now, before anyone starts, I'm not pointing fingers to say one console (or fanbase) is worse with these practices than others, and honestly, I think you'll find examples like this on any console manufacturer. Does it absolve Nintendo? No...definitely not...but I do think the accessory pricing complaint is a bit overstated. Companies always overprice their accessories, and anyone that thinks this a Nintendo-only issue honestly needs to broaden their field of vision.

Anyways, about this thread, make sure to keep the conversation specific to why or why not the OP's point is valid, rather than making strawman arguments about other fanbases.
