Exclusives and brand loyalty.

I bought a PS4 at launch and a Wii U about three months before that. I still got an XBO because it had exclusives I was interested in, mainly Halo. Also, pretty much everybody I've ever played online with is on XBL, so the XBO is my go-to system for online MP (which again is almost entirely Halo, with a smattering of Battlefield). I was going to wait until Halo 5 was released to get one, but I ended up getting an XBO a year earlier because of the Master Chief Collection.

I don't care much about playing online. Maybe that is part of the MS attractiveness that I don't see.

Smartglass can do almost everything. Then there is IR blasting.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Backwards compatibility, game preference, controller preference, game streaming to PC, arguably the best MP service, ect.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

One word: Scalebound

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Bought an Xbox one since it basically makes any other tech in your living room redundant. Also, graphical differences between it and the PS4 don't bother me.

Games appear to be cheaper on the Xbone too. Whenever I visit my gamestop, Xbone games are typically 10%+ less expensive than their PS4 counterparts.

Price. I got an Xbox One in December for $179.99 with 2 controllers, 2 free games and a month of free online directly from Microsoft. At the time, the cheapest I could find a Ps4 was still well over $200.

1). If you're buying a One S, it does have the benefit of being a cheap UHD media player on top of being a game system. For the most part, it'll get the support from the major pubs. That's why they try to keep it at a competitive price so the big third parties don't second guess about putting content on the platform.

Plus, if you don't own a capable PC, it's always an option for people who really like MS's franchises, but weren't in a hurry to get the console. Xbox also becomes an attractive option due to MS's constant deals for the system. If you're patient, there are times you can get the console with multiple game and gift card giveaways. MS spares no expense to try and get these in homes. It can be a big value for budget gamers.

That being said, if you're buying a console looking for the best specs at this stage of the game, it's time to wait until the Scorpio debut to see which SKU is worth your dough.

2). For exclusives, there's practically no reason for MS to seek out Japanese devs to develop content for Xbox anymore. Even if it's a contracted job, it's not a sure thing. The Japanese buying public has spoken. MS is likely still in the region as a face saving measure. MS gamers in the west will still buy these games if it's a major release, just not nearly as much as PS gamers. If the cost of devving ports for the platform outweighs the projected sales, then that's when it will be an issue.

3). See 1

4). Only playing Xbox games on PC, I couldn't tell you. I do hear they're trying to make improvements to the UI all the time. So I figure one day they'll have it ironed out.

For me....

- The controller is the best imo.
- Online is amazing and superior, many of my friends play primarily on XBL.
- Backwards compatibility is awesome and with my new 4K TV upscaling capabilities and better performance make revisiting 360 titles for free amazing.
- Better games free with Gold.
- My XBox library is robust.
- 4K Blu-Ray built in.
- I have the hdmi USB HD antenna plug with free tv antenna integration. (Available on PS4 too).
- I don't have as many inputs in my new 4K TV but the XBox has a hdmi-in that allows my gaming computer to be accessible from my XBox One Dashboard.
-Better interface imo.

These are all personal reasons of course. But it is why the XBox One is my primary console. If the Scorpio is more powerful and allows me to do same as the above, I'm sold!

I covered most of that, but the backwards compatibility is something I forgot. That would be the #1 reason for buying an XB1, if I ever did, if Tales of Vesperia is on the list.

better games, 4k player, better online service, backwards compatibility, better controller.. like everything it is all personal opinion. different people value different things.
