Quick, everyone care!

However, they do echo what I have been saying all along. Hand held with TV out. It will and should get hand held support as well. It is embarrassing to see so many people in denial about what this console really is. Hand held!

Nintendo denies it too. But the Switch with an optional dock, a better battery, simpler controllers for an overall cheaper price as an official new handheld would have a way better reception. But they don't want to announce that they leave the home console market, even if it's really dangerous for their product.

I never fault the liar as much as I fault the people that believe the lie. For example, Donald Trump said awful things about women and admitted to sexually assaulting women. Then he lied about it. Yes, I dislike that... a lot. However, I dislike the idea that any woman would support, make excuses for, or believe him even MORE than I dislike him.

Nintendo telling [obvious] lies for business reasons (that they think are beneficial to them) is stupid. But people believing those [obvious] lies and buying or not buying the product based on those lies is even worse than the lie itself. As informed consumers, we should be able to call out a lie. We are not the uninformed and/or ignorant consumer. This console is a hand held with video out.

Just watch Nintendo release a handheld console next year that is incompatible with Switch games. None of the 3DS's mainline franchises have been announced for the Switch. They continue to stress how the Switch is a home console, and it's very clear with Nintendo's decisions over the past few years that they are completely out of touch with market desires. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Nintendo announce a handheld around  E3 2018, and it shouldn't surprise you either.

I sure hope they bump Mario and Splatoon to 1080 by the time they launch. Great art style doesn't make the lower resolution go away.

Zelda: 900p/30 fps docked, 720p undocked

Wasn't this stated, hardly need DF for that.

They will probably release a handheld console at the end of next year (or in the following year):

A "Switch lite" which has the same specs as the normal Switch and shares the same game library, but is better pocketable. It doesn't make sense if they split up their game development teams again.

That "this is not a 3DS successor" or "this is a home console" is just Nintendo's insurance.

The Switch is them putting all their eggs in one basket. It's their home and handheld market in one system. If this fails, it will be really hard for Nintendo to come back.

Their "not a 3DS successor" is a fail safe of removing one little egg from that basket. If this fails, then they can as you said come out in 2018/19 with a "3DS successor". But if this doesn't fail horribly, this is their handheld. It will be getting their handheld games. There is no reason it should not. It has the same functionalities of their handhelds. Take Pokemon. If you meet another person on the street with a Switch, you can have a quick battle with one another with your switch. They connect up to 8 switches locally. What did 3DS do? Was it only 4?

It has a 2.5-6 hour battery. For 3DS type games, that woudl be nearer the 6 hour limit. That is plenty for a handheld. Feel like my 3DS XL doesn't get much more than that when playing a game.

They just left open the "option" of a handheld announcement. It's a weak option though.

Nah, I'm betting it isn't compatible with switch games and games are easy to port between the two devices, because Nintendo knows people will buy many of those games twice. This is Nitnendo we're talking about. They don't exactly have their finger on the pulse.

I don't think it's an option. I think it's their gameplan.

The thing that I don't get is why is it that Mario Kart 8 is able to jump from 720p on the Wii U to 1080p on the Switch, but Zelda can't do the same?

Same with Splatoon 2, it looks a lot similar graphically to Splatoon 1 imo, though a bit better in some areas so I don't know why that wouldn't be at 1080p.  It also doesn't look like the type of game to me that would be a big advanced game for the system to run either, but who knows.

I'm gonna hope that since Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey are a while away from launch still that they can get the resolutions up to 1080p by then. Maybe with more time they could have brought Zelda up to 1080p but since it's a launch title they can't.

All of them looks amazing. As always, Nintendo providing the best games.
