I always wonder what happens to people like this. If they actually went ahead with the attacks (and didn`t die during them) then they`d get life sentences (or executed depending on the country) but if they were just planning an attack do they still get life sentences (or executed)? I mean on one hand they didn`t technically do anything yet so it could be seen as harsher, but on the other hand people like that really shouldn`t be let out into society ever again since they`ll probably just try and do it again.

Can't we ask China to build another Island for people like that and drop them off and send a regulatory foodsupply. Than they have their dreamed caliphate and we are happy too :p. Because we don't have to pay as much to lock those guys up on the ling therm.

they have to present their evidence by March 17, and then the suspects have to face court on April 28. this just seems like a really long time, why the long wait?

The logical thing would be to execute them on the spot but since most western Justice systems love to treat criminals better than their victims they'll probably just get a slap on their wrists so they're ready for their next attack on Christmas.

Because there is only a finite amount of courts. There are hundreds of other cases to handle. I doubt the judges are just sitting there and waiting for the trials.

I`m pretty sure you`re not supposed to be rewarding people for planning terrorist attacks. Surely that just gives people even more reasons to become a terrorist, no?

We also allow imams that spread hate and radical mosque's within our borders so we give them reason enough already, this is purely a cost reducing meassure. Since it turns out that the death penalty is not only inhumane (although for some cases I still think it's a great sollution for people like breivic and those who murder and those behind the attack in Paris), but it's also really expensive. Besides living on such an island isn't always such a nice thing, especially not if terrorist a dissagrees with terrorist B and any form of guards are at least a 1000 miles away ;p.
