Forums - Nintendo Discussion - It's working - Nintendo's search traffic volume has increased 60-fold since January 2016

I didn't want a click-bait title, but this November Nintendo was searched more than Xbox and Playstation. The whole "using mobile to spread brand awareness" is working. This is really good, specifically when it comes to momentum. Everything Nintendo's been anouncing and doing in terms of gaming, theme parks, mobile, licensing, murmurs of movies, etc. is leading to tangible spikes in intrest. It was gradually growing throughout the year, but the real spike started in September.

This can only mean good things for the Switch. Nintendo wanted to make endeavors with the goal of raising brand awareness, and it seems like they sure as hell are doing a good job at it. Read the rest of the story on Venture Beat.

Woah, I'd guess it had a lot to do with Universal, Pokemon Go/Sun/Moon, Mario Run, NES Classic and Switch. Nintendo has made some great moves and announcements this year, definitely a turn around for them compared to last year.

Perfect moment to get all this attention now that Switch is coming, I feel pretty optimistic with the launch of the console.

I remember being hopeful when the Wii U launched.

Holy fuck! That lead!
And yes! You are sooo right! IT IS WORKING.
So much Nintendo happening right now
- Pokemon
- Switch
- SMR
- Super Nintendo World
- Nes Mini

And it will only get better after Jan 12. Hopefully this will greatly impact the Switch. By that I mean the first thing they need to make sure is people knows
- The Switch exists
- What it is
- What games are on it

I had no idea that Wii U existed when it launched.

I remember being told by new users that they had no idea I was a Nintendo fan when the Wii U launched.

I remember being called a Nintendo hater by old users when the Switch was revealed.

We already knew that it's working from the sales numbers, so we can skip the step "let's wait and see if it translates to any uptick in sales." It certainly is beneficial for Nintendo's future prospects, but it's not a guarantee. If Switch price/battery life/first party lineup have serious drawbacks, then we'll be looking at a lot of wasted momentum.

I agree. I just think it's interesting to see it layed out like this.

I remember being called a Nintendo hater around the time Splatoon was coming out.

And Star Fox: Zero.

Are you not?

See that's the common misconception here. I don't hate Nintendo. I just hate most people that like Nintendo as if their life depends on it.
