I think Colour splash is vastly underrated, its up there with my fave Wii U games. I rank it 2nd to only thousand year door in the series.

Nice, let's hope they go back to the RPG style that everyone loved...

A different system, as in going back to the roots, or something 'new' and 'innovative'? D:

I just started the game over the weekend and I'm having a good time with it...

It's obviously not PM64 or TTYD, but even if they gameplay were similar those would still be impossible standards, given the love fans have for those two titles...

It's still better than the dirge that is SPM...

Have a nice day...

Personally, I'd far rather have another in the style of Super Paper Mario, than the first two. Because I enjoyed that entry the most.

But as for Miyamoto interfering with/causing changes in Nintendo published games...I love the dude, he's a genius, and once upon a time his crazy ideas made for some great games. But at this stage, he really needs to just stop. He said a few years ago he was going to step back and only work on smaller games, NOT oversee all these bigger releases. And yet, here he is, still overseeing and "upending tea tables".

The man deserves our respect. In many ways he's the Walt Disney of gaming. BUT, in the last decade his ideas have also gotten progressively worse, and made many games that COULD have been good, mediocre or even awful. So I really wish he would keep his word, and semi-"retire", and leave the big releases to OTHER folks, who won't just add random gimmicks to franchises, because he's very obviously bored with gaming and just likes to think of neat "gameplay gimmicks" these days.

Oh god. "Different" sounds like Paper Mario is going to continue to no longer have a definitive identity as an RPG and has a permanent role as Nintendo's experimentation series. I have officially lost all faith that the series will ever return to the golden years of the N64 and Gamecube. I guess it was a good run.

RIP in peace Paper Mario

I also just want to point out how hilarious it is that this guy talks about moving forward and not looking back at old methods as if the success of old entries will have zero impact on future games. If this is a standard mindset at Nintendo, you know, not learning from the past, it would explain so many things.

It's dead as we knew it, but maybe not dead overall. We'll have to see what their new gameplay is, for all we know it could be just as good as TTYD's if not better, but yeah, I'm not gonna bet on that hehe.

I think that's just bullspeak to defend their god Miyamoto, atleast I'd rather believe that than them really being that ignorant.

Meh. This ain't the Paper Mario I loved, and that's okay, I'd rather see these guys making mediocre games they actually want to make than mere insulting imitations of the originals they feel forced to work on, but that doesn't take the feeling of seeing an old friend being abused away. Not cool Nintendo, not cool.

Do they actually want to make this though? Afterall, Sticker Star was originally a true TTYD successor until Miyamoto came along.

They won't unfortunately, but that doesn't mean their new RPG style can't atleast be well liked.

They have so damn little reguard for the user base.

Imagine if the next Call of Duty was suddenly a puzzle solveing game without any guns?
or a RTS game (Call of Duty - red alert).

People want Paper Mario to be a Turn based RPG.... give them that.
Messing around with the genre of a series just for fun? f*** that.

He wants to take paper mario in a different direction? They already took most of the RPG elements of the game away. What more could they take away? The non-existent story? Maybe they will make a pure 2D platformer!

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

What the hell is the Mario family?

Also, I didn't buy Sticker Star or Color Splash (I hear Color Splash did not sell well so good!). They don't seem like good games based on the metacritic user ratings but I will be getting myself TTYD if/when it comes to the Switch.

I will be talking with my wallet to let Nintendo know that TTYD is the type of Paper Mario people want. That and I never got to play it so I look forward to it.
