They can still back out of the deal.

I have a yahoo mail account with a password I haven't used anywhere else. Not even similar. Should I be concerned about this?

It depends on what you had in the account. The stolen information include names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, passwords and security questions and answers.

You answered your own question.

I would be more worried about any sensitive emails in your case. I just went through and changed the pw on any account with a card attached to it.

Well, yeah, I mean the chances of anyone with interest in your data might be slim, but if they have your log in data, then they can get in. I'm not saying that anyone actually got in into your account, tho.

Didn't it happen a while ago as well with Yahoo? I changed my password for my dormant account in September for some kinda security breach. I don't know why I have a Yahoo account anyway, can't remember.

Hmm, we've noticed some unusual activity with your account, please answer you secret question. I don't remember that, yet I could recover the account. Nothing there since the last password change, not even spam, just a security breach alert mail and xbox one advertisement. I still don't know why I have that account. It might be from my isp, there's literally nothing in it apart from welcome and sign in messages.

I'll stick with outlook as my main email provider. Although if that gets hacked, I'm fucked.

Yes a few months ago it was announced that 500 million yahoo accounts were hacked sometime in 2014. The breach disclosed yesterday happened in 2013 and 1 billion accounts were hacked.

It happened 3 years ago?! Changed my password just in time....

The thing is this breach happened in 2013 but Fox news doesn't mention that here, just links it to having happened a time before another breach, why not just come out and say when this hack happened I guess it would be less newsworthy if it was something that seemed like it was currently happening.

I find it very strange that Verizon was going to buy the company without knowing about this breach which happened 3 years ago.

Also fucking lol when they talk about hacking they go for inverted colours on the video of someone typing, my sides are in space.

Maybe. I just chose their report because it was brief and simple. For the people that are interested but that wouldn't want to loose much time.

You should immediately contact all of the spam bots which spam that account to let them know if any spam emails come from it they aren't from you! Also you should make sure and follow Yahoo's guide as to how to block search results from that mean old Google site, it's always bullying that poor little guy!

The writing was on the wall for Yahoo from the point where the Yahoo Toolbar and search engine junk was being slipped into free software downloads as PUPs, at the point where you need to trick users into using your service you are no longer a sought after company but you are seeking use by any means required, it's a sign of things not going great.

Oh yeah sorry I wasn't criticising you for posting a Fox News link here, I'm sure many people will get the information which is important from this clip and the thread you made, sorry if it came accross that I was knocking the thread you made mate, stuff like this is vital to know just in case someone still had an old yahoo account long forgotten but which was used as the recovery email for their current main account so then it could be used to request a password reset for peoples current email accounts.

I just meant that fox in that clip were trying to splice in some CSI graphics into what their users would think Hacking looks like... if only it was like this in real life.. you could find hackers by their shopping habbits for always buying inverted looking paint colours for their walls :D

I made an account when I was like 13, never signed back in after I made it. Probably used a fake name and DOB too sooo, I'm good.
