And to think... Some people argue over which platform has the biggest/most diverse library. Ha!

Wow! Just goes to show how much the platform is growing!

Uhh wow, that's one incredible way to spin it.

How is that spinning considering Steam has been growing over the years...

Mostly fantastic no doubt. Somebody should do a top 1000 Steam games of 2016.

Didn't realize how few games were released prior to 2014.. thought it was a lot more than that actually o:

This is exactly what I was thinking too. I thought Steam was pretty huge even in 2007 or so.

Same here, I started getting into PC gaming a little back in 2011 and cant believe the amount of games coming out during that time was so little compared to now o.O.

It must be the total number of games everywhere that's skewing these statistics as well. Indie development has exploded with the arrival of free AAA-level game engines.

sort of a misleading number

the number of big developer releases on Steam is probably not all that different than in the past, the real difference is there are an insane amount of mediocre indie titles being released by people in their basement's these days

occasionally you'll get a hit and a great game, but tons of shovelware is out there

Steam probably is still 'gaining steam', pun intended, but those numbers are crazy because of people trying to cash in on the fact that a lot of people will randomly pay a few bucks on a whim to try some small indie game. It doesn't represent a massive increase in quality games popping up

the number of big quality titles is still at a similar level, its just loads of mediocre indie games. They are soooooo many. if you go into the STEAM store and look at the under 10$ or under 5$ sections, there are a massive amount of shovelware

just being realistic here. Steam has gotten almost kind of pushy about letting tiny games into Steam, especially with things like the Greenlight

I don't if i should be happy or worried about this. I mean, yes the platform is growing but the amount of undercooked sholveware...

Sure, there's a lot of shit, but there's also way more awesome stuff than we see on any console.
