Good buy

You are a failure in life 22 100.00%

Total:22

I was going to wait till next year to buy a 4K TV, but then came Cyber Monday. I went to Best Buy to help this woman out with buying a PC. She got busy talking to a sales rep and I somehow find myself wandering in the TV section. I wanted to test the knowledge of the sales rep there. Then laugh at his face about the failure of current TV sets with input lag.

This guy with tattoos walked up to me. Pretty good looking chap, BTW. He asked me if I needed help. I was standing in front of a demo unit for the KS9000 Samsung TV and another Sammy TV. I asked him what the difference between these two TVs were, because I couldn't tell the difference at first. Then he said one is a 4K TV and one is 1080p. I looked closer and saw the color difference and was pretty impressed.

I then I asked him about the price range of this TV. He said it was on sale for $400 off. The 55 was like $1500. I still wasn't convinced to buy it.

I asked him about the OLED TVs and he said they have really good picture quality, but the input lag is pretty bad. He said the Sammy TV is the best for gaming.

I told him I will think about it. The TVs right now are not to my liking. With me really wanting an OLED, but input lag sucks and maybe burn-in issues. I said the Sammy is really tempting though.

He gives me his name and I wander off.

I then get home and see this stack of 4K Blu-rays that I've been hoarding over the past 2 weeks. From sales that range between $9.99-$17.99 a piece. These bitches were flying off the shelves last week. I'm mad I couldn't secure myself a copy of Pacific Rim for $17.99

Between playing Pokémon Go, Mobius Final Fantasy and watching TV on my Xbone, I browse the TVs on Best Buy and I come across this KS8000 65" on sale for $1400. The devil started weighing on my left shoulder. I couldn't help it anymore. I press the buy button. 😤

What pushed me over the edge? These freaking 4K Blu-ray sales. Just knowing that Xbone had this feature and I can partake in this new form of eye porn, I couldn't help it man.

So, my new TV comes tomorrow.

What do you guys think? Good buy?

That seems like an amazing buy! I'm jealous! The TV framing looks nice too!! Congrats on an awesome purchase!

Sounds more like a winner than a failure to me :P

I'd say that was a good deal.
$100 off current retail pricing for a good sized TV.
It has decent tech using the HD10 spec (sadly no Dolby Vision HDR),
It is a 240hz model (which for best picture quality in movies you should to turn Fast Motion plus off except for the following instances, watching sports, gaming, or watching movie that was created in HRF).
That model is edge lit so you will see some light bleed in pure dark scenes in a dark room but will otherwise be unnoticeable. The TV does have the best contrast outside of Array lit, and OLED TV's.

Are you sure you will be able to watch 4K blurays on a Sony TV? Might be too new of a format to be processed by a Sony product. I wish you good luck.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

From what I remembered OLED hadn't issue with input lag, but perhaps I was wrong. But you seem to have found a very good price for your tv.

And Vivster it's a samsung tv not sony.

So much knowledge in this one post. Thank you! 😘

Put a protection plan on it. The 8 Series has been the most unreliable TV I've ever sold, and we've have more than half of them returned for the same kind of panel failure each time.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there isn't a TV out there aside from the Z9D that can even fully utilize Dolby Vision. DV needs a 12-bit panel to be fully utilized, and the only thing that has that or more is the Z9D (14-bit). LG can talk a big game, but DV just doesn't perform that much better.

EDIT: Reading more of your post, I can't help but feel you shouldn't be recommending TV's.

1. There isn't a 2016 TV that runs at 240hz. That would be the "motion rating" of 240, and is also only in relation to 1080p. 4K sources only run at 60hz/120MR.

2. Higher refresh rates don't make TVs smoother. Plugging 60hz into a 120hz doesn't turn the source into 120hz. What makes TVs look smoother is the motion rating.

Good idea. You can do that after the fact, right?
