AAfter watching moana, it quickly becomes obvious that it was better than frozen in so many ways.

-music (gtfo with Let it Go- most annoying song ever made. no one can remember any song besides that)

-talent (Dwayne Johnson> all of frozen)

Its time for frozen to be thrown into the bargain bin. I rarely enjoy anything involving demigods, but this was a classic. I'll probably watch it again before it leaves theaters. Might write a legit review as well.

Next up- doctor strange 

Edit: I don't actually hate Frozen lol. Just hate how people kept treating it like gold and kept singing let it go. overall, it was actually good, and it was a stepping stone which allowed Disney to distance themselves from the aging love story formula we've seen too many times

For sure, it's definitely way better. Kubo was also a truly great movie. Frozen is massively overrated imo.

Frozen was great. Zootopia was great. I just watched Kubo, and it was great. Moana I'm sure is great too.

Seriously, I don't get why every time a new animated movie comes out people find the need to shit all over Frozen. It was a great, albeit somewhat small-scale film with excellent character development, visuals, animation, and performances. I wasn't a huge fan of musical numbers, but clearly they resonated with a whole lot of people.

While Moana deserves praise, I think Kubo deserves a bit more for:

a) Not being from the #1/#2 animation company in the world

b) Managed to make clay animation beautiful

c) Had all the great things Moana had. 

d) Influences from Japanese culture was very beneficial to the movie

Overall I say it is the most surprising movie for this year. It is far better than the likes of Suicide Squad and BvS, which is depressing when you think about it. 

i guess it's because of the 1000 times I've had to hear my younger family members sing "let it go" 

When I watched it, i didn't hate it at all. I thought it was actually pretty decent- like a 8/10 or 7.5 at worst. I just got annoyed at all the people who treated it like a god so I joke around and say it's the worst movie ever. 

On the bright side, it'll NEVER be worse than the cancerous movie known as Minions. Now that is horrible for sure

It is definitely that good, and even if I enjoy Moana a lot, I think Kubo is still the best animation film this year. I wouldn't say it's surprising since the studio is constantly delivering pretty good animation films, like Coraline.

Can't wait to get it on 4K Blu-ray

I agree with you there. For the whole movie I was thinking there was no way this could possibly be stop-motion. Lo and behold, it was! Blew my mind. It's themes, it's characters, and the way the movie handled both was fantastic. My only complaint is that the dialog could have been a little more organic at times. It was even really well paced, which is an issue I find a lot of movies running into. I'll actually be surprised if it doesn't win Best Animated Film at the oscars next year. Especially since critics and the Academy seem to love any film that's about stories or storytelling so much.

Also, don't even get me started on Suicide Squad! What a mess.

Both movies sucked. Especially Moana.
