Eh I like my PS4 and all but most sales for PS4 games are shooters and such. Most Sony IPs since PS3 are shooters so it seems most owners are not that diverse. (Ignore user name for a second) I am not loyal to any current console maker really. I buy a console that has games I want and Nintendo and Sony happen  to do that most. Nintendo first party and Sony 3rd.  XBO is the only MS console I do not own. I have hundreds of games becuase there is so much great stuff to play on MANY different kinds of consoles from many brands. It doesn't sound right for someone to say people loyal to a single console brand are the most diverse? Erm not sure that is how it works.

Here's my two cents:

Playstation gamers have the luxury of getting their hands on the most diverse of games simply because of the
quality of Sony's worldwide studios.

Bottom line: Which games have surprised you the most and hit you in the gut emotionally. For me, those games are:

1. Ico

2. Heavy Rain

3. Journey

4. Flower

I cannot speak for Xbox much - as I have only played some Halo and Gears games. Nor have I played much of any Nintendo games for that matter. However, I'm sure some of you have played many games on those platforms and can chime in with similar signature, emotionally powerful games that are out there.

So Nintendo games is just one genre? XD. Nintendo games are actually quite diverse imho. And they're not children games, but that's another debate.

Also, when did "Nintendo games" become a genre?

I think Xbone users have the more diverse taste. They get gaming, TV, streaming video, 4K Blu-ray, split screen. It's the most diverse form of entertainment.

There's no doubt that PlayStation and Sony in general has good diversity, however Nintendo systems have a ton of diversity in their library as well...

I don't know. I think a lot of PS super-users prop up games from niche genres and developers for list wars, but the majority of PS4 owners buy 8-10 games, most of them Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Madden, FIFA, etc.

That wasn't the case with PS1 and PS2 owners though.

Most PS1 owners gravitated toward Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, and Crash Bandicoot. Most PS2 owners went for Grand Theft Auto, Medal of Honor, etc.

The average gamer is a creature of habit, in any ecosystem. Most Xbox owners are going for Halo and Call of Duty. Most Nintendo customers are investing in Super Mario and Pokémon.

The truly adventurous gamers don't restrict themselves to a single platform.

I think that most gamers are biased against hentai gamers since no lists seem to ever include them

Well no. That's why I think a better dichotomy is experimental/adventurous gamers vs. casually-interested gamers (which make up the vast majority of fans of all systems). That's a lot more relevant to this conversation than Sony vs. Microsoft vs. Nintendo.
