Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the rumored iPad Play kill the switch?

So there are rumores about Apple releasing new iPads this spring. Including a new iPad Play that should replace the current iPad Mini.

Rumored Specs:

7,9 Inch Screen @ 1080p, True tone and HDR technology build in.

Taptic Engine to emulate "clickable" onscreen buttons similar to the iPhone 7's home button.

A10X CPU from iPad Pro with increased GPU performance, hitting 2100 Tflops in FP 16 (Tegra X2 rumored @1500 Tflops)

Plastic Case similar to iPhone 5c in grey and white.

2 Models: 128 GB at 399,-; 512 GB at 499,-

No Sd Card slot or anything. Only digital games via AppStore.

To be released with AAA Developer support.

No Cameras, No 4G, Not as slim as other current iPads to safe costs.

New Apple TV Play to be relased as well at 299,- with 512 GB and same SOC (shared library)

Leaked Benchmarks on GFX Trex 1080p Offscreen and comparisons:

iPad Play: 310 FPS

Nvidia Tegra X2: 180 FPS

Nvidia Tegra X1: 120 FPS

iPad Pro 2015:  160 FPS

Xbox One: 360 FPS

Ps4: 450 FPS

Wii U: 74 FPS

Do you think its real? And could it hurt Switch Sales?

Note: This is from a supposedly developer on an not public forum and i dont want to share the forum or screenshots or anything. This could be fake, its just a rumour. Some information seem to be similar to other leaks about the new iPad pro though.

Around the Network

Well if anyone could do it, Apple would be high on the list.

I'd like to say it wouldn't, but it probably would.
A better question would be if Nintendo will have involvement with it given their developing relationship with Apple?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Any link to this rumor of the iPad Play and its clickable onscreen buttons?

Not if you can you can use the switch controller as an input device to play Zelda BotW on Ipad.

Rofl on Wii's fps... i just bought a WiiU recently too (not gonna take the risk that all U games will be ported to Switch).

Without physical buttons, it doesn't interest me in the least.

Games sell consoles, not specs. And the new Rumored switch seems to be pretty high on both lists from what we know. If people aren't willing to pay more than 300 for the switch, what makes us think people will pay 399 for a gaming tablet?

The specs might be real or even better, but the question is what will this really do for Apple that the old iPad model didn't?
Still too digital and no analog. Although, they could pack in controllers like Switch is doing and then, THEN, it could really be a big threath!

If that ever happens, the only possible solution would rely on Nintendo's IPs. But even then, the damage could be really big because you can bet that 3rd parties would jump on this thing without a second thought.
Normal console controllers + Switch like power (possibly more)... what's stopping big companies from bringing console games to this device.

Again, the above scenario is based around the possibility of the new iPad having Switch like Joycons.
