Hadn't registered that 10 years had passed since it was launched - we didn't get ours until 2010, and it's still being used along with the Wii U and the PS4.

Bleh, just reminded me that I started college over a decade ago... Starting to feel old heh

Has an awesome exclusive CastleVania, and a shitty 3D Beat Em Up CastleVania. What more could you want from a system?

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Such an amazing party machine.

Wii is my #2 favourite console of all time after the SNES.

I own over 40 games for it, and the Wiimote + Nunchuk is still the best controller setup I have ever used. Pointer controls for aiming were a revelation, while the proper use of motion added a level of immersion and tactile joy to games that standard controls just can't provide.

Playing the swordfighting minigame in Wii Sports Resort for the first time was one of the biggest "wow" moments of my gaming life, it felt like the biggest generational leap since the transition to 3D in the 90s. It was like something out of a sci-fi film, but in real life.

To this day, my Wii is still hooked up to my TV, and I play it on a regular basis.

Could I ask what you use the Wii for which the Wii-U cannot do? GC games?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I realize this isn't directed at me, but personally, I still play Wii games on my actual Wii rather than my Wii U; initially it was to conserve the latter's disc drive, but at this point I do it mostly for the sake of purism, and cos that's where my save data is.

All of us use the Wii for exactly the same reasons as curl-6, and for the GC games (Double Dash gets an airing from the kids and on rare occasions I revisit Luigi's Mansion)

I never really trusted the transfer process from Wii to Wii U, and the idea that the Wii would be completely wiped.

Happy Birthday!

For me definitely one of least favorites Nintendo consoles, but it has some great games.
