Forums - General Discussion - I really don't like the new South Park episodes

Yeah. Last season was better. The current one is okay but could have been much better.

Last year's continuous-theme format worked alot better because each episode stood out on its own, rather than this season's overarching plot where if you miss one episode you're like "what the hell is going on", and so far it's done a poor job of mirroring the actual election.  Garrison as Trump has been weak this whole season.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I also agree. I liked them much better when they were single episodes instead of this.
And especially since the main story is American elections, never had much interest in the real thing, so I don't like 10 episodes of that. And the trolling getting stretched to full season is also boring and uninteresting.

I just keep watching it out of habit, press play and wait for 20 minutes to be over.

I love the new season. I think last season was slightly better, but have really enjoyed watching it with a friend. A weekly ritual that I look forward to.

I liked it earlier in the season until it became clear that this season was just going to be one long story.

Other episodes from decades ago are more timeless because you can watch one, get the story, laugh, and move on. Who's going to know what the hell One--I episode is about without the context of the other episodes? My wife is a casual fan. She watches periodically, laughs, and moves on. She can't watch a single episode this season without me explaining everything. Not a good thing.

I gave up in 2004.

I agree, South Park's stories and messages work best in small doses, either single episodes or the occasional 3-episode special. While there are still funny elements (the election material was funny), the Member Berries stuff is growing a bit tiresome, especially for a series that uses callbacks to classic movies for many of its jokes.

Plus, as someone that enjoyed the Force Awakens a great deal, it's a bit annoying to get my opinion trashed every episode. I thought it was funny the first few episodes, but to devote an entire season to it? I get it guys :)

Wasn't it praised the first episode?

I think they are great. And it surprises me to no end that such a thing can exist: a show that still retains quality after 20 seasons.
And do not give me Simpsons, to me Simpsons is a shadow of its former self since season 12 or so...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

On the contrary, South Park started on my 13th birthday, been watching it this whole time, and I think this is one of the best seasons there has ever been.
