To upscale? It still needs the basic things, hdmi port, cables, etc.

I think it will also have an extra boost for the hardware, but that's just my guess

It big, its bigger than handheld unit, so most likely games some extra processor power. I guess that games on handheld runs at 720p and on TV at 1080p.

you can see in the video how Zelda is starting be laggy when played portable, so probably extra tegra GPU

You can't just detatch a gpu/cpu while playing though, that footage is exactly what gave me 99% assurance that the dock DOESN'T have any hardware of the sort in it.  Literally just yanks the tablet out whilst the game is running.

Well added USB spport as well for accessories, which is useful, especially if the tablet itself doesn't even have a micro-usb. I wouldn't want the dock much thinner or I wouldn't trust the thing to stay up.

 

Oh it could potentially act like an external HDD as well, maybe can put a 2.5 or 3.5 inch HDD in there.

 

So Charging, HDMI output, Extra Storage Space, USB Support and *maybe* an upscaler of some sort. But no, I don't think there'll be any processing power used for games in the thing.

this. it is to bulky to be just a HDMI port, nintendo has a patent for a device like a suplementary procesing power to boost another one, so this has to be it.

No, but it's a hell of a lot tidier and more refined than having to plug in AC power and a HDMI.

The 3ds had a cradle, it needed one a hell of a lot less than the NX.

Exactly. Its for convenience and nothing more. You don't have to keep digging out every cable you want to hook up, you simply dock the screen on the dock.

No way you can put internal HDD in there, most likely it will have support for every kind external memory same like Wii U.
