Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch, what did you like, and what did you dislike?

Once again seems like I'd be buying a console with features (and extra costs) I will never use.

With the Wii U it was the gamepad. I don't play with friends locally and I am master of the TV so I have never once found the need to use the gamepad for that, and found it was ultimately a distraction in games that sort of forced the gamepad as an extra screen (for inventory, maps, etc).

In this case, the gamepad (extra screen) would sit in the dock forever, never to be used. How much lower price could the thing be if it never existed. Maybe Nintendo will have 3 skus. Pure console, hybrid, and pure handheld. I'd probably buy the pure console.

Not sure if I like it.

Pro:
- No more range limit on the gamepad.
Con:
- I'll never use it outside the house so why pay extra for that functionality.

Unknowns:
- Will it run my WiiU games? Or is Nintendo done with BC.
- Touchscreen?
- Internal storage?
- Battery life?
- I guess no more 1 on tv 1 on pad multiplayer?
- Splitscreen or will the focus be on buying multiple switches?

Reviews will have to convince me Zelda is much better on the NX. Least excited I've been for a Nintendo console to date. I dislike playing on handhelds, but didn't mind the extra info screen with touchscreen inventory management etc on the gamepad. This seems a step backwards for me.

Just wondering, do you have a wife, kids or anyone else in your home that also uses the same TV as your game cosole.  I have the WiiU and I must say because it has that second screen, it allows my kids to play on it while I destroy the world on my PS4 or X1.  I have also found it handy when the wife wants to watch one of her boring shows and I can pull out the WiiU and play until she is done.

Yes, my kids use it as a second screen all the time, with the added bonus they can't sneak it into their bedroom. Anyway that's still possible with the switch (as well as it getting lost anywhere in the house now) I don't want to experience a big Zelda game on a tiny screen, nor want it to be made with the small screen experience in mind :/ Leave the UI on the gamepad, no big old letters and icons spoiling the image cause it must be clearly readable on a 6" screen!

I think its fine. I like the NX name better than Switch but the latter makes more sense and tells you what it is. Hell i knew it was a hybrid just by the name. Now Ninty doesnt have to worry about having to support two different systems, which is good for gamers.

Yep... switch to me describe it good.

You switch from console to handheld, to cablet and controler

I think its cool that it seems to be a Wii (I interpret the side controllers as two Wii-motes), Wii U (if the second screen has touch), a standard console and a handheld console experience. Now it could potentially garner all the third-party support it needs and doesn't force developers to use Wii/Wii U functions but still has them so you can develop for them and use them for Wii/Wii U ports, allowing people who skipped Nintendo (7th/8th gen) to still play those games.
I could be wrong about the Wii-mote = Wii compat things but I'm being optimistic :P

The power of the thing is my only concern. It can play Skyrim, that isn't really that impressive.

I think this is a legit console overall.

I love it. The concept is highly marketable, and I really like the possibility of taking my Zelda on the go. Problem is, I don't see a way in which this console would be cheap.

Well... thinking about it as a home console, they´re never cheap. I think no home console should cost more than 300 unless it comes with games

The way they presented the console, there isn't really anything I dislike about it. The design of the console and tablet part look good and easy to carry, and the controller looks good. The only nitpick I have are the detachable controllers, but we'll see how those feel later down the line.

Like: cartdridge + Mario+ Zelda.
Deslikes: portable hybrid thing, useless for me and it is a sacrifice on the performance and cost.

That's "NX"? I am kind of disappointed from this. Excpeted much more from Nintendo Switch after all the hype it got in the last few months... It's basically just a Wii U with the addition of being portable... Name is awful too (Nintendo Next or Nintendo Nexus would have been much better)... Also the whole hybrid thing hasn't been implemented good by Nintendo, who goes out with such a big tablet thing to play outside? It looks completely embarrassing if people play with these things outside imo. Why not make it in the size of a smartphone?

Would you want to play big size games on such a small device like a smartphone...? Also, it's pretty common to see people using tablets when they're just chilling out. I don't think it's that embarrassing.

I like it is a new hardware with a new Archtecture. A new chance for ARM to deep in "high" performance.

Everything else... Well, they smell bad choises and unfocused market.

It can't compet against PS4XO in power, it will be throunced by Pro and Scorpio.

It's too big for a handheld and will compet against, lets say, 300mi Android and iOS smartphone and tablets. Including W10 devices.

Yeah, it looks like a device with no target audience outside of Nintendo fans.

The reactions on the net says otherwise tbh people are going mad at the prospect of Skyrim on the go and all, I'm not talking about Nintendo fans either as some people have a few issues with it but overall like what they're seeing.
