Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Pachter: Microsoft Has An Inferiority Complex Right Now

I love when people agree with Pachter when its about Microsoft and not in the good way. Haha

I love when people agree with Pachter when it's about Microsoft in a good way, and then dismiss him when he says something negative.

He says that MS has never been behind in the the US. Was this guy not paying attention during the PS2 era? lol

Awesome!

Xbone S, Project Scorpio, Xbone+Win10 movement, backwards compatibility. Microsoft does some pretty great things when they are supposedly feeling inferior. Lets hope the complex continues! :)

Also, Pachter says dumb shit, per usual.

It's true, they do some nice things when they're behind.  They've also proven to be extremely anti-consumer when they're ahead.  It's a company that is well-known for doing whatever it takes to achieve market dominance, sometimes extending to the unethical and illegal.  They want to control any market they enter.

Quite honestly, I think Pachter is right.  Microsoft does not like one bit when they are publicly trounced and they can't do anything about it.  Anyone who is an Xbox fan should be thanking their lucky stars they got their ass kicked coming out the gate.

Pachter does say some shit and the PS2 beat the XB1 but he is right about the inferiority complex. Nobody can deny that.

This is prime example of how stupid it was to choose Xbox One as a name.

They barely have any exclusives, who cares how cheap it is.

Maybe if they didn't hire such a douche like Don Mattrick, forced bundling of Kinect at launch, and adopt anti consumer practices which they later dropped after the outrage then they wouldn't find themselves in this position.

Didn't Xbox release pretty late in the scene? I think Patcher is probably trying to say that it's never lost in the US when the timing of console releases was this close together. It's easy to lose in the US when your competitor has been out on the market with no (real) competition so successfully (Wii U situation was not successful even without competition) for a while before you entered the market.

and even then, they still outsold the GameCube.

You could say the same for the GameCube perhaps, but it's true there as well. The PS2 had the chance to explode even larger thanks to the lack of competition for a good while. Not saying that would've changed the winner of that gen, but it made a difference nonetheless.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious what he was saying.  The original Xbox is a common sense exclusion.  I don't know why people are nit-picking over that, especially not after others have already done it.

Same could be said for when Sony is ahead. As gamers we should all want the platforms to all be competitive, it makes for a better market. No reason outside of being a fanboy to root for anything less.

No, because that would be moving the goalposts in a way that doesn't make sense. Typically, consoles usually tend to release a year or so apart from each other. Pachter just made a straight up omission, period. That kind of knowledge should be video game sales 101.
