Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pokken Tournament has to date sold more than Street Fighter V

I honestly am surprised Street Fighter still isn't ahead.

Street Fighter V: 800k

Pokken: 910k

Better sales for a better fighting game.
Also Smash is a fighting of a generation (again), don't think any fighter this gen will come close to WiiU+3ds combined.

Unfortunely Capcom made many mistakes with SF V, which is most likely the better game of the two.(Didnt play neitger of them).Hopefully both have legs and sell better as time moves on.

It should be noted that SF V is also available on PC, thus making its sales bigger due to digital, but thats just speculation.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

As of March 2016, Street Fighter V has shipped over 1.4m. (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/street-fighter-5-sales-underperform-but-capcom-pro/1100-6439605/) As of August 2016, Pokken has shipped over 1 mil. (http://gematsu.com/2016/08/pokken-tournament-worldwide-shipments-top-one-million) Now the fact that any comparison can be made at all speaks volumes of Street Fighter's lackluster performance, but Street Fighter's still likely on top.

Smash 3DS on it's own will not be topped this gen. Hell, Smash Wii U might not even be touched by anything else, at least definitely not on any single platform.

Highly subjective there. I personally like Street Fighter V much better than Pokken Tournament. Also I agree about Smash. I'm not sure any fighting game will sale as much as Smash this gen.

Yeah I remember SFV being over 1m at least, so I figured the numbers in the OP were off.
Still, SFV isn't selling great, and I'm guessing they're going to rebrand it at some point, similar to how they handled SF4's multiple versions.

He was using Vgchartz numbers, to be fair. The fact that they're off by almost half is... interesting. That being said, yea, SFV's not doing well at all. They've said they're not going to release any additional editions of it, I wonder if they intend to stick to that. Pokken's doing ridiciculously well considering it's the first one and it's on the Wii U.

Not surprised there at all. Pokken is a great fighter.
MKX is my favourite fighter this gen by far though. Probably one of my most played games this gen. LOVE the online multiplayer.

My brother and I are still playing USF4 and I feel like I'm missing nothing by not playing SF5. Plus that T Hawk is still the man and the man isn't on SF5.
