Forums - Politics Discussion - Celebs... here to save... push their own agendas.

If you just follow a celeb blindly because they say something without supporting facts then that is just being dumb.  Now if they have a solid argument and facts supporting their side then that is fine.  Problem with following Donald is that facts are rarely on his side.

that was kinda emotional.... well made video.

Oh fuck off. This was disgusting.

And of course, all of them were paid a ton of money for this. That's how the world works.

I apologize for this ad. One the other hand I only signed up for the Mark Ruffalo parts and didn't say anything negative about the candidates

Do you actually believe you are RDJ?

He isn't!?

OT: this is nothing new OP. They're part of the campaign, so of course they tell you to vote for their candidate.

And for people laughing at this saying "Lol USA", pls.

Why is it disgusting? Don't like the characterization of Trump? Does the characterization of Clinton as 'a bitch that should be in jail?' bother you as much? Do you really think they were paid money? They most likely weren't. They most likely were trying to help the campaign by donating their time. I've certainly volunteered for political campaigns, and I wasn't paid. Why can't celebrities, who are just as likely to be passionate about campaigns, do the same without people assuming it's because of 'money?' There's a good chance Scott Baio wasn't paid to be the most famous person at Trump's RNC convention. He probably just actually supports Trump.

Robert Downey Jr made 50 million for the Avengers.  Even if he was willing to do political ads for money, they couldn't afford him.  Is it that hard to believe that a handful of celebrities legitimately dislike Trump and are willing to take a few hours out of their day to make a video about it..?  Or is any anti-Trump sentiment part of a conspiracy?

Watch that.  This is really upsetting to me.  They push the importance of voting, but back handedly are telling us to go their way.  This is how Obama won his two elections and I guess the celebrity machine is at it again.  You celebrities are popular, I get it, but between you and I and everyone else, your opinions are your own and mines are mines.  Just because you have the power to go out there and push your personal agendas, well to me it's just selfish.

Remember, it's one thing to tell the importance of voting, it's another thing to whisper your personal believes on to others.

This happens every election, and it's not just done by a third party like the vid you linked, but the candidates bring celebrities into their campaign as well.

The only sad thing is that Drumpf chose Scott Baio.
He hasn't been popular since the 70's.

If speaking your mind when you have a following is selfish, then every reviewer of a game or movie for a popular platform is selfish.
Keeping your opinions to yourself because you may sway someone's oppinion is not a great idea either, because many people out there don't do their research until something motivates them. Every one speaks their mind, to different degrees.

Either way, who exactly are you worried about here? The voter who's opinion would be swayed from one candidate to the other because of a celebrity's opinion? Chances are that this person doesn't do much research to begin with, meaning their vote may already be ignorant from the start, and they may as well be decided by a coin toss.
I'm more interested in the voters who haven't done their research but may become sparked to do so. Not everyone who does will agree with the views of these people.

They weren't trying to win over Trump supporters.  Just to make sure anti-Trump people are enthusiastic enough to actually go to the polls.

Vote opposite whatever a celeb says.
Harry Potter said Hollywood is super racist...

I really love how left wing artists want to push for an agenda, demand that everybody pay more taxes and help others while they rep profits and sit on it for themselves. They are the biggest hypocrites I ever heard.

Nothing I suppose, but I have some reservations about how charismatic and fun people are more likely to cajole en masse.  Have you ever heard of selling ice to eskimos.  Well, that's the sense I'm getting from this.  Sure, freedom ring and all is fair, but a lot of these actors are really popular.  Six of these actors made several billion dollar movies.  You have to admit their star power is over reaching in ways where it's sort of scary.  Even a little bit?

Not even a little bit.

This basically makes it sound like you think people are being "tricked" to this website and then being "brainwashed" by how charismatic and fun they are.

I'm guessing you run with a very smart crowd.  As for me, I run a gamet of differing level of intellect.  While I admit that most I know will see behind this ad's opaque veil, there are some who are nothing but hook, line and sinker for this stuff.  I guess I'm just trying to elude to a more extreme example of charismatic figures that have pull in the world.  You know, your hitlers and stalins and husseins.  And no, most of these actors don't have the same pull as those people, but just the same it's the same tactic.  Perhaps I was just trying to instill a sense of caution to how far charismatic people can lead others to a specific goal, e.i. the presidency.  If you can't see a little threat in that, well I hope for the best.
