Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which is more important Graphics Quality or Story Quality?

Which is more Important?

Graphics 28 14.14%

Story 170 85.86%

Total:198

I just wanted to know because many people are mad that companies aren't pushing the graphics to higher qualities or pushing 60fps. There is also the fact that many people are always complaining that there is no good sotry in games anymore, and they get bored (I find myself here very often). So I was just wondering what you peeps want moreso.

Depends on how the story is told.

A good story will always trump a few pretty sparkles, plus graphics age, the story the game tells does not.

EDIT: Unless we are talking fighting games, I don't think they need plot.

Hmm, pie.

WTF is story quality and what does one have to do with the other and why can't there be both?
It could be the greatest story in the world and I would still turn off the game after 20 minutes if the gameplay is shit. See Undertale.

You shouldn't lump "graphics" together with a lot of other things that make up the visual presentation of a game. When people complain about low fps or bad graphics then it's a game that demands it or something the developer strives for.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Story by a lot.
Doesn't mean graphics don't matter. Great visuals can complement great story or a great gameplay.

Gaming could have stopped at 720p and 30fps for most types and I would have been fine. The quest for higher resolution has become a real turn-off for me. I would love to see resources spent on other aspects of game development.

As for story, I'm a big fan of a solid narrative but that can take many forms depending on the genre and what the game wants to accomplish. That's difficult to discuss as an open-ended question.

There's multiple factors to take into account. Also the type of game being made. As for myself I'd rather took story quality most, if not all, the time.

Depends entirely on the game

Graphics fade but story keeps you going.

In general it will be story for me but it also definitely depends on the type of game.
New Super Mario Bros should focus on looking good instead of a story. But an RPG is a different thing.
