Forums - Movies & TV - Best villain battle: Marvel Vs DC

Who has the best villain(s)?

DC 32 59.26%

Marvel 22 40.74%

Total:54

My case is that while the other villains do it for some reason or motive, Joker does it just for shits and giggles.

Wouldn't that ultimately make him less evil. There is no evil in his plans because they are not thought out, there is no ultimate evil goal achieved.

Has to be DC comics, come on, Deathstroke, Harley Quinn, Sinestro, Two-Face, Lex Luthor and The Joker

Then what makes him more evil than someone like Carnage?

I think his point is that evil itself is his goal, nothing more or less than the corruption and destruction of everyone he can reach.  It's a misnomer to say he has no goal, his goal is chaos, destruction, and corruption (as he attempted with Gordon and Batman and in the case of the movies succeeded with Harvey Dent).  But other evil villains have some justification for their actions, some motive that, stripped down, may even be admirable.  The Joker doesn't.  The only other option I could see would be someone like Darkseid who is also evil but has more of a structured "destroy the universe and spread evil's reign" thing.  But I would still personally give it to the Joker, because of his nature.

I like threads like this as it makes me realise how fanboyish I am and how little everyone really knows about comics.

1) I'd probably say The Joker because he's The Joker.
2) Red Skull? Or well technically in both universes the devil exists, so Mephisto or Lucifer?
3) The reality changers, their very essence of not wanting you to exist make other powers tiny in comparison.
4) Magneto, who else is so conflicted/broken/in need to redemption yet never really does.
5) Galactus - Purple and pink armour.
6) Marvel, DC have 3 big ones then not many iconic ones after that while some of Marvel's heroes have multiple iconic ones.

Hmm, pie.

Jonah Jameson is a better villain than all those guys put together.  JJJ baby.

Comics, DC wins easily in quantity and quality.

Movies, they are about tied. Only good villains in the recent movies are
1. Loki
2. Lex Luthor
3. General Zod and of course Faora kicked ass
4. Red Skull
5. Amanda Waller
6. Winter Soldier

Honorable menions include Doomsday (He was strong as F and did his one job, KO'd Supes) Joker (basically a cameo, but I want more).

Shit villains below
1. Enchantress
2. Whatever Iron Man 1's villain was called if he had a name
3. Manaran twist
4. Dude who shot fire out of mouth in Iron Man 3
5. Whip dude from Iron Man 2
6. Malekith from Thor 2
7. Yellowjacket from Ant Man
8. Villain from GoG
9. Zemo from Civil War
10. Crossbones (he wasn't horrible till they ruined him to canon fodder in Civl War
11. Ultron. (looked cool, sounded cool, but was boring as f and stupid plot)

Then there is the mystery Villain. Will Thanos get up from his chair and be a great villain or another Marvel wash away. I mean heck, I don't even know half the villains names in the marvel movies cause they were so forgettable, bad.

Not sure where to put Suicide Squad Members. The story stucked and movie was a mess, but for the most part they rocked their characters. I want to see a lot more of Harley Quinn, Deadshot and Captain Boomerang in future movies. But they were not villains in that movie, so not on above list.

Marvel, though DC has a solid showing.

1) The most popular villain: Joker, probably.

2) The most evil villain: Darkseid, I think.  Marvel probably has a rough equivalent, but Darkseid is put to greater use and used for greater effect.

3) The most powerful villain: ?  Both Marvel and DC have existential threats to their respective universes.  I'll leave it up to Death Battle to figure out which would come out on top, but it's probably a tie.

4) The best written (rounded) villain: Magneto, by several light years.  Almost every other (of the better written ones) looks half-assed in comparison.

5) The villain with the best character design: Doc Oc.

6) Largest number of great villains: Marvel; Batman is the only DC heavyweight with a good rogue's gallery.  Marvel has a good one for Spider-Man (almost as good as Batman's), X-Men and the Fantastic Four.  Also, Marvel does a better job with putting its heroes on the side of villainy through moral ambiguity.  DC's attempts seem fairly black-and-white even when it tries to be nuanced.

Which of the two has:

1) The most popular villain - DC - The Joker

2) The most evil villain - DC - The Joker. Honorable Marvel mention - Red Skull

3) The most powerful villain - Marvel - Thanos w/ Infinity Gauntlet (or maybe Galactus?). Honorable DC mention - Darkseid

4) The best written (rounded) villain  - Both - Joker and Dr. Doom

5) The villain with the best character design - Totally personal opinion here... But I think this almost has to come down to uniqueness. For Marvel, probably Galactus. For DC, probably Doomsday. But there are so many variables to that question.

6) Largest number of great villains - Both - let's just throw out the villains for both Spiderman and Batman, both of which many people will agree have the most impressive line up of villains.
