The bad thing about My Nintendo is that Gold coins can only be obtained by buying digital stuff. So if you're like me and prefer to buy physically, there's no reward for it.

Other than that I like it more, Gold coins are redeemed automatically, and the others just scroll down or look for the Missions. No big deal.

So there isn't any coins given for buying physical anymore?

After the changes Nintendo did I lost my account and I don't know why.

As far as I know, no. Just digital stuff  :(

Wow that does suck.

My Nintendo would be better if Platinum Coins had worthwhile rewards (AKA games). I have 1810 coins and no use for them =P

I think that might be part of the problem, Rol. You explained all that and I, a person who's never used My Nintendo, still has no idea what you're talking about. It could be that I'm an idiot - which is possible, or, more likely, it's bad conveyance. A product should be as close to instantly understandable as possible(Pokemon GO/Wii vs. 3DS/Wii U) for the consumer.

It doesn't take more than a few minutes to understand the entirety of it, if you are willing to learn about it. The first step should be that you create a My Nintendo account and link it to your NNID. You'll get a couple of hundred platinum coins just for signing up. Afterwards you check out the missions page and see if there's something that is acceptable to do regularly (for me, that is logging in weekly on the eShop and Miiverse, plus enabling e-mails from Nintendo which I don't read). Lastly, you check out the rewards page to see what you can redeem for your coins. Most rewards are either discounts on selected games or free games altogether.

I find the whole thing more convenient and rewarding than the previous Club Nintendo procedure.

Previous procedure was pretty damn easy for me. I bought a game new that was published by Nintendo. I open up the case to get the code paper, log onto Club Nintendo and enter the code.  Fill a brief survey out and then I got my coins.  Actually, the amount of steps make it seems more complicated but it was pretty damn easy for me.  I guess I was just used to it.  I understand them wanting to push people to buy digitally but to screw over physical buyers is pretty bad.

Indeed, and to make matters worse, Nes games won't give you Gold coins either, because you have to spend more than $5 to get them.

And now it's easier. You buy any game that is at least a $/€5 value on the eShop and the coins are automatically added to your My Nintendo account.

The only drawback of this new rewards program is the current lack of coins for buying physical products. Maybe that will change with NX software.

That sounds like some EA level stuff. I remember jumping through some hoops on social media for Dragon Age rewards before just getting sick of it and abandoning the whole setup.
