Sure, but that would mean shorter lifetime and noisier console - but improvements in PSU/cooling would not really add much to cost, it's the yields of fully enabled GPU that needs to run on 1GHz.

2.5TFLOPS is 35% more then what PS4 currently has, plus 8 more TMUs for total of 80, both them and ROPs (along with triangle setup) on 25% higher clock - it's definitely not all about FLOPS...but that said, those 2 disabled CUs and anemic 800MHz clock are there cause they've decided to price PS4 at $399, they just couldn't risk with higher price.

Yields don't really have much to do with clocks, you just throw more voltage at the problem.

Sure, you can do that, yet there's a reason why they've decided to not try to go with 20CU GPU@1GHz (or even with 20CUs@ 850MHz, like 7970m), and my guess would be yields that would raise that $399 price.

Yes i would have prefered more powerful consoles. The Neo and Scorpio have the right idea but i believe it's alittle too late for that. Most gamers i know are upgrading or buying into PCs now.

I wouldn't be surprised if to come out with a more powerful console after few years was the idea when they decided to move into Intel architecture.

As for the most people you know, most people in here voted that they are happy with the current console. My prediction is that the rate new model/original for the Neo and Scorpio will be around 20/80. Maybe 25/75. I don't have a crystal ball and so I may be proven dead wrong, but it would just make sense to me. We'll see.

Not really, since the Wii U can play the games that it already has, but on the other hand may could have had better 3rd party support..

I don't think the extra 2 CU's would make much of a difference compared to a 20-25% clock speed boost, which forces every other component in the GPU to operate faster, at-least it would be hitting 1080P in every game then.

Would rather have payed more for 60 FPS for console exclusive games (FFXV, TLG, Bloodborne, ect.)

I'm for the right level of technology for the right price for the time. Last gen, I thought the PS3 was a bit too ambitious and expensive when it was initially released so I bought the X360 before buying the PS3 a few years later. I found the Wii too low specs with gimmick tech that didn't add to the gameplay for the types of games I play so I bought it very late gen and I regretted every buying it in the first place anyway.

This gen I have found PS4 hit the sweet spot right out of the gate and bought it the first year. The XBONE was too expensive at first, but ultimately after the price dropped I bought one about a year ago. The Wii U is just not relevant tech wise. It feels like previous gen tech. I do not plan on buying the Wii U.

I'm happy with the quality I have at the moment.

The PS5 Exists.

I'm fine with the current amount of power that consoles posess.
I'm not paying for mid cycle upgraded consoles if the base one can play the exact same game with a bit worse graphics and frame rate.
