After analysing many user for many years on VGC, I have come to the conclusion that kitler53 isn't an analyst.

This such an exciting time or consoles. In the 25 years I've followed this industry, there has never been this much buzz about hardware. Sony and Microsoft are pulling the console out of the game room, and putting it in the livingroom, and at the computer desk, and that is extreamly exciting to me.

It would be very awesome if Sony straight up sold this just like a smartphone. A press event to specifically announce the price and release date of the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Performance, along with new system features with PSOS 4.0.

If they can do something similar to this;

PlayStation 4 Compact
Release Date: October 2016
Price: $249.99

PlayStation 4 Performance
Release Date: November 2016
Price $499.99

I think they would dominate the industry through the end of the year. Perhapps their plan all along was to let MS put out thier hardware, and then come back right before launch/holidays, and slam the market with hype.

So many possibilities right now, so damn exciting.

One guy completely speculates that there will be a slim with nothing concrete to base this off of other than a hunch. Sounds legit.

Concrete? Can you think of a single PS generation without a slim SKU? Go on, there have been all of four of them so far.

hell the PS3 had two slim refreshes.

No but can you think of any generation with a half gen upgrade? Exactly. And, the PS4 is already slim. There simply isn't a need to downsize it yet, not with another SKU on the way. Save the slim for later

You don't need an analyst to know that this was coming.

I think this is the first generation where a slim model really isn't necessary. But a smaller form facter does mean lower costs of production and distribution and hence better margins. So if you can shrink it you should. The only time this doesn't apply is with penises and breasts.

I don't see what or how a slim has anything to do with a ore powerful sku. If anything, more powerful sku nessecitates a slim console.

Typically, slim consoles are cheaper to make. Which means they can be sold for less.

And Are you one of those people here that just doesn't understand the neo sku? There are two markets (or there will be two markets) for the PS4. The people looking to spend no more than $250-$300 for a PS4 and those willing to spend $500-$600 for the neo. No one is going to take $500 to buy a neo then change their mind and just go with the slim primarily cause its smaller. Same way how the people with a budget of $250-$300 won't just go and add another $200 to buy the Neo.

A cheaper PS4, validates however more expensive they choose to make a Neo.

Please please please don't lump me in with the people that don't seem to understand the what and why of Neo d:

I referenced it to show you that this isn't a typical generation and that the rules of the game are changing. Which is why I would be just as unsurprised if there wasn't a slim for a while yet, as if there were.
