Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft has 14 1st Party Games In Development

How does this always happen when a thread is made about Microsoft.

Oh don't play coy. You framed the op in a way that would invite this sort of debate. Also, you didn't give your two cents at all or mention any way how people should discuss anything from the op. Whenever a list of any sort is brought up, comparisons are made between the company in the op and it's competition. It's completely normal to be honet. How they are compared varies but this particular thread is actually fairly tame and civil. To be fair, people are mainly debating the difference between 1st party and "2nd party".

"microsoft-currently-14-games-in-development-being-made-not-out-yet.html" is the article title.

"Microsoft has 14 1st Party Games In Development" is the title YOU gave it.

How do you think this thread would have gone if you kept the articles original title - instead of putting your twist on it?

I suspect it would have gone differently since it would have been far more clear from the beginning that they were "games they have planned" - whether that be first, or second party. As opposed to the disengious truth of labeling them as first party games.

Try to spin it anyway you want. It is just sad that this is all you all do everyday on this site.

Yep Vasto... everyone is against MS, but you are a fair poster about all platforms.

The only platform I post about is Microsoft.

Well, yeah, of course it's my opinion. I don't judge greatness by sales or scores or popularity.

I'm more than happy to debate the merits of Sony's first party efforts, but if you're just going to talk about how "most people" or "tons of people" like something, or - worse - quote Metacritic, then I'm afraid we can't have a very productive conversation.

Why don't you tell me why YOU like those games, and we can go from there.

The problem with this take on judging a library is that the only way that conversation can end is "well, I guess we just have different opinions". You don't even need to have the conversation. Without some sort of standard metric you're just talking about what games you personally prefer, which has little to nothing to do with how strong a first party lineup is.

For instance. I don't like really any of Blizzards games. Does that make them a bad studio? Would someone from Blizzard be wrong if they said they have a strong lineup of games? Of course not. Because even though I don't like their games, they are generally considered really good.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Guys, stay on topic, please. Don't make it personal.

Point taken, I won't say a guy haven't make very negative comments about other company every chance he got.

Isn't owning the IP the most important thing?

Maybe, but outsourcing most of your IPs to third parties for development would technically make them second-party games, wouldn't it?

If we're talking technically, then there is no such thing as "second party".  It's a short-hand term for a situation that has no official designation.

A game is either first party or third party.  A studio is either first party or third party.

It would seem Microsoft views anything they publish as first party, even if they don't own the IP or the studio.

Nier is not a new IP.
No Man's Sky is possibly coming to Xbox One as well.

And Dead Rising 4 is coming to PS4...

WTF?!

Did you get that we talk about new IPs?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
