Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo has a communication problem with it's Fanbase.

It's been a rough year for Nintendo, while they are still putting out some stellar titles now and then there seems to be a clear problem with Nintendo, Acting on Fan Feedback. Everything that is said seems to fall on deaf ears. Unlike other companies that are more involved with their fanbase then ever Nintendo seems to be doing their own thing, just telling what they're going to do and not paying any attention to what is said in return. For example.

Animal Crossing Amiibo Party!!!! Errr.... No I think everyone wanted a real Animal Crossing game on WiiU.

Paper Mario Sticker Star/Color Splash!!! Errr... Everyone wants a game in the vein of the original or Thousand Year Door.

Mario Party... Everyone hated the Car in 9, so what did Nintendo do for Mario Party 10? Kept the car of course. Not to mention the new 3ds game which has some awful movement gimmick also and Island Tour which is already out where every board is basically a straight line.

Metroid - You wanted a Metroid Prime game?!? You're getting Federation Force ENJOY!

F-zero - You asked for a new F-zero? No you're not getting one on the WiiU because reasons.

It seems pretty clear to me that Nintendo have a big problem with interacting with their fanbase and taking onboard feedback and just in general giving their fanbase what they want. While in the last two years Sony has announced 4 HIGHLY requested projects because of the high demand from fans (Shenmue 3, FFVII, The Last Guardian, Crash Bandicoot.) Nintendo is making Color Splash, Bad Mario Party's, and Metroid Federation Force.

Nintendo Directs are just Nintendo saying what they're going to do, the communication seems one way, as a Nintendo Fan does anyone feel like their voice is really heard when they ask for a certain game or a change?

Don't forget about Star Fox Zero.

I personally reeally like the controls for that game, but I can definitely understand why people hate them so much.

Miyamoto pretty much just wanted to try and innovate for the sake of innovating, and it's pretty much the reason why we got an unintuitive control scheme as a result, as well as the reason we still don't have a new F-Zero.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Yeah, I wasn't going to mention that one as there does seem a few that enjoy it and at least they tried to bring back an old franchise people wanted.

Nintendo as a company just seems a little old fashioned and isolated, they still haven't adapted to the modern social networking world.

You really think so? It seems enough for all Nintendo fans to buy their games and consoles. They have a lot bigger communication problems with everyone else.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Intelligent Systems is the one that really needs to attend feedback. NOT MANY people liked Sticker Star, yet here they are beating the dead horse. It's also surprising that they also consider Mario & Luigi series the standard Mario RPG series when the demand for a Paper Mario 1, 2-like title is gigantic.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I wouldn't say they haven't adapted in the social networks. I mean, why would they go out of their way to have Miyamoto and other people have guest appearances on popular social media channels like YouTubers Game Grumps, The Completionist, Game Theorists, Gamexplain, Jwittz, etc.? Why do they get these said people involved in their promotion campaigns of their upcoming games? They do ask for feedback for their social media outlets and how to better communicate. Plus, what about their promotional campaigns in Japan? Does anyone know how they are going about in Japan since they are finding solid success there?

I would have said yes before, but now I have a little confidence. Little, baby steps, but oh well.

They did listen to feedback on SPM. Though from what they received from Club Nintendo, the fans apparently didn't care much of story (kinda interesting since from what I've heard, people seem to like the story).

I'd say if Nintendo fans were all on board you'd get Gamecube level sales.  Personally I stated years ago would buy a Wii U with Zelda (likely a Zelda themed one) and due to delays and general sense the system was dying it marks the first Nintendo system ever I have yet to buy and may never buy depending on NX.

They have big misses, yes but they do deliver with some games, and that is what matters

I won't be buying all Nintendo games, but the ones I do get, I enjoy playing them a lot
