Forums - Gaming Discussion - No PS4Neo at E3, due to it beeing too inferior to Scorpio

It seems Microsoft pretty much won in Sonys own game. Xbox Scorpio is pretty much a beast of a console compared to the initial plans for PS4k. They know that they have an inderior new product compared to Microsoft and that´s very likely the reason why they pulled back, despite havng a headstart in supplying dev-kits. Pretty much an inferiority complex situation, they pretty much got scared by their competition.

You realize Andrew House revealed in an interview prior to E3 that the Neo exists and that it would not be at E3, right? Sony already had no plans to show it. Sony still has PGW and PSX where they can selectively reveal new games and hardware as well. Microsoft basically blows their entire load at E3 because they don't attend many other conferences throughout the year. Sony has to be more selective in their reveals though because they need to last out three conferences between Summer and Winter.

I give your flamebait -3/10.

Hey man, we all need stories to help us fall asleep. It's a beautiful showing of your creative mind that you write your own.

Rest easy.

I dont comment much but i can't see this thread as good start for a peaceful ad constructive discussion ...

"inferiority complex". Interesting choice of words there.

You don't know that PS4 Neo is inferior but I assume I'm not supposed to respond in this thread ...

Even if Scorpio is superior does it make you feel all better that you have to hold out for over 16 months and even longer for games to take advantage of the specific microarchitecture improvements ?

Their whole marketing campaign for PS4 was focused on beeing the most powerful console, the place where you can play 3rd party with the highest resolution and framerate. And you think that Microsoft pretty much owning them in this department didn´t affect them? Xbox Scorpios supposed hardware superiority was a big hit in their stomach and ego and maybe even so big that they feel the need to make changes and postponing their plans. Also regarding singling out Microsoft for blowing all they´ve got, do you even realize how many years in advance Sony announced Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2 and even Horizon and with Kojimas Death Stranding they again seem to announce a game way too much in advance.

It's somewhat pointless to discuss if they're "scared" or not at this point, but the absence of the Neo at E3 isn't proof of your argument. Sony confirmed several days ago that the Neo exists, and that it wouldn't be making an appearance at E3 (presumably because they want to avoid it eating away at the PS4's current sales).

Regardless, it will be interesting to see how the Neo vs Scorpio stuff turns out. If the final Neo does reflect what we currently know, and the Scorpio has a similar advantage over it as the PS4 currently has over the X1, then it'd make for a fun shift in roles. It likely wouldn't have the same PR impact as the current dynamic did (since the lack of a Kinect would let Sony properly capitalize on the benefits of lower-spec hardware, and MS's shift to an Xbox+W10 combo makes the higher end hardware slightly less relevant), but it'd be interesting none the less.
