Forums - General Discussion - Dad defends son(convicted rapist); "it was only 20 minutes of action"

But wait, he says it's too much because it was only 20 minutes? I should go shoot people at a mall. I mean, it's only, like, 20 minutes of my life. That justifies it all, right?

Thankyou you made my morning!!!! XD

A true parent wouldn't shun their kid, nor support bad decisions. They should accept the punishment but also try to seek help for their child (psychological therapist, etc.) since obviously something is wrong mentally.

You chose to sidestep the point entirely by focussing on a nitpick. And you're trying to soften the portrayal of a convicted rapist. You keep saying you're "not defending him", yet you continue to try to downplay his actions.

Call it a nitpick or whatever makes you feel better. You were clearly wrong, I pointed it out and instead of maning up and admitting you made a mistake you accused me of something I didn't say. If by downplaying, you mean sticking to the facts and not adding any of mine like you did, then sure. Honestly, dude. I'm done here. Do whatever you want.

You've spent pages of posts trying to distract from and understate rape and soften the way a rapist is percieved.

Case in point: "Do you know how many people (both men and women) have committed similar acts? It's probably people you see and talk to all the time. It could be your brother (about a night he never told you), it could be your best friend. A lot of great people have done terrible things that could scar another person for the rest of their lives." http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=7931925

Uhm, your "case in point" is as much not "distracting" from the main topic as it gets; the dad defending his son. The mental gymnastics you have to do to turn around what someone says to make you look "the one who is right and just" are impressive, they really are, albeit intellectually dishonest.

He's saying rapists can be "great people", and casting it as something that normal people do. That's defending both the rapist and the act of rape.

And then there's you, who apparently empathises with rapists.

It's like talking to a wall. I'm done here. Good luck with your life with that kind of communicational skills.

Communication is central to my job, at which I perform very well. I just don't empathise with rapists.

While I'm glad you're both stepping away from this, personal shots like this are not okay. Cool it with the accusations...both in this thread and the next one. You don't need them to make your point.

LOL if my dad knew I raped someone he would've beaten up my ass and I'd be shunned.

Right decision.

Can't believe people are feeling bad for the rapist. Like what the hell? For real? He's the douche who raped a girl and dragged her to a dumpster(and he did it when she was still conscious). How about we forget the idiot and start caring for the girl?

One thing I want to say though- this only further proves my point of alcohol starting everything. It's not victim blaming, but people need to be taught that getting blackout drunk isn't smart. You need limits; don't go alone if you're gonna have 8 shots.

Anyways, it's sickening that we're caring for the, ahem, "kid's" future. Let this kid be a middle easterner or black dude and people would be shitting on him- 100% guaranteed. People would then bring on the bigots explaining how this represents a "larger issue at hand". But nah, the dude is white and filthy rich, let's put excuses for him because logic.

Note: the black dude on the left was a football player who raped a girl. Why the hell was no one "concerned for the kid's future"?

It's all BS, and I hope the judge gets kicked off as soon as possible. Wouldn't mind a riot going and shredding apart the lawyer of the dude. Trying to not only defend him, but make it the woman's fault.
