Someone pointed out that they need some sort of limitation in order for it to be as optimized as possible. In other words the PS4 can do way more than a similarly speced PC because it can be optimized on a level that PC games cannot.  So while they are brilliant,  being on a closed platform really helps.

It's why all PC games look like garbage forver would be my guess.

Um, yikes dude.

I should have said "there are no good looking games on PC, being open kills it for PC", would that have sounded more convincing?

Chapter 4 is where they reach their peak.

It's strange that this is possible, yet Drake leaves no footprints in the mud in the Madagascar level.

They're very good at what they do and the game is rather linear. That combination can yield some great graphics.

Not sure that screenshot is all THAT impressive though... I suppose the leaves look nice but the water and texture are meh.

There were few "open world" parts that looked as good if not better than some of the linear parts. That screenshot in the Op wasn't amazing. The rain (in photo mode) was just a 2D sheet. It still looks good but there are tons of moments that looked better, imo.

I don't doubt it. I'm currently working my way through the first three and can't wait to reach 4 lol

Is Uncharted 4 a PS4 exclusive? I'd kind of like to see what it would look like on my PC, recently upgraded the heck out of it.

I hate to do this but...

You know, at times, Quantum Break pulled this off, too. It didn't have the variety of U4 nor the rain, mud, gravel etc but there were definitely several moments where I paused and said "This looks too good!"

U4 is really on another level but it's not the only game that could possibly fool people with a screenshot.

honestly I agree. Quantum Break really succeeds in creating an almost invisible line between reality and gamepay.

He leaves a butt print though when he slides down :p There are tire prints, maybe they ran out of time or memory for foot prints.

The attention to detail is insane in other places. Damage modeling for cars which you normally wouldn't even notice if you play it right and hurry up

I 'failed' that sequence at least 30 times checking out all the different paths and what's all destructible.

It pays off to look behind you as well

My point to that of course it would look great on a powerful  PC but it would require much more work to get the same thing working on PC with the same level of optimization on similar speced hardware.  And the thing that makes their work so impressive is the level of optimization.  Could they do it? Sure, but it would probably be harder to pull off.

And doing hard work cannot be appreciated better?, does everything have to always be the easy route or something?. Life isn't easy but I wouldn't want it that way because life would then be boring.

Also as far as things go there are still devs out there who craft for just PC and it isn't driving them to near death or wanting to eject from the platform never to return.

No, but it needs to be viable financially.  This is just a fact of development.  And much respect to the folks who can do it, but there is a point where the cost of optomizing something can outweigh it utility.

I've seen hard work pay off a lot of times, hell human history has shown that hard work has gotten us places rather than easy coasting routes.
